This vacancy is for a GS - 1801 - 11, Commerical Fishing Vessel Examiner located in the Department of Homeland Security, U.S. Coast Guard, SECTOR SAN JUAN INSPECTIONS DIVISION.
NOTE: There is a 2.81% (of basic pay) Cost of Living Allowance (COLA) authorized for this position location. Please see Nonforeign Area Cost-of-Living Allowances for more information. With PCS entitlement comes the eligibility for enrollment into the DoDEA School.

Duties
You will serve as a Commerical Fishing Vessel Examiner and be responsible for advanced training, and project leadership in the enforcement of marine safety, pollution prevention, vessel manning laws and regulations..
Qualifications
To qualify at the GS-11 grade level, applicants must have at least one (1) full year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-09 grade level in the federal sector. Specialized experience is experience that has equipped you with the particular ability, skill, and knowledge to successfully perform the duties of this position and is typically in or related to this line of work.
Specialized experience must include the following:
Reviewing technical vessel design and construction plans to determine compliance with regulations;
Examines all required navigation, communication, alarm, lifesaving, firefighting, and pollution prevention systems to ensure that they are operating properly and in compliance with applicable standards.
Accurately conduct data entry, draft examination reports, analysis, and routine general correspondence in accordance with established policies related to fishing industry vessel examination and regulations.
OR
Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree
OR
3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree
OR
LL.M., if related
Specialized experience is experience that has equipped you with the particular ability, skill, and knowledge to successfully perform the duties of this position and is typically in or related to this line of work.
