You will serve as a TRANSPORTATION ASSISTANT (FREIGHT) of NAVSUP FLT LOGISTICS CNTR JACKSONVILLE.
Duties
You will prepare cost comparisons to determine the most cost effective mode and determine which is the low cost carrier.
You will complete cost avoidance print-outs comparing air cost versus surface to determine the total cost avoidance by branch of the military.
You will receive packaged items defined as discrepancies.
You will consider the classification of the material, physical configurations, items requiring special handling or movement as a single unit or project material.
Requirements
- Must be a US Citizen.
- Must be determined suitable for federal employment.
- Must participate in the direct deposit pay program.

- You will be required to successfully complete a pre-appointment physical examination.
Qualifications
Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-06 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: 1) Applying transportation management policies, regulations, methods, principles, practices, and procedures related to the movement of a wide range of specialized shipments; 2) Requiring knowledge of the carrier industry, specialized shipment needs, terminal or storage capabilities to identify appropriate shipping methods, carrier equipment, services and special handling required; 3) Training with hazardous material classes for transportation personnel; 4) Governing entitlements and documentation requirements for domestic and/or foreign relocation/freight shipment to plan and arrange for shipments within established timeframes
