About the Position: This is a permanent position with Military Entrance Processing Station (MEPS) in Honolulu, HI.
Duties
Coaches, facilitates, solves work problems, and participates in the work of the MEPS Testing Element.
Provides input to supervisor on performance, progress, and training needs of employees, and on disciplinary problems.
Conducts aptitude and qualification examinations at the MEPS and Military Entrance Test (MET) sites.
Signs for inventory and receipt of, transfer of, and destruction of accountable test materials.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- Incumbent must be able to obtain and maintain a valid State driving license.
- Incumbent may be required to serve a two year probationary period.
- Incumbent may be required to travel up to 25% to perform duties/attend training.
- Incumbent may be required to work occasional shift work and/or weekends.
- Incumbent must be a qualified typist.

In order to qualify, you must meet the experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Specialized experience: One year of specialized experience which includes Performing quality control of examination and/or applicant information; Conducting aptitude and/or qualification test sessions as required; Assisting with the accountability of all testing materials; Compiling test results and/or information into a centralized reporting system; Implementing policies and/or procedures for administering examinations. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-05).
Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted.
Proficiency Required: This position requires a qualified typist. A qualified typist can type 40 words per minute based on a 5-minutesample with three or fewer errors.

Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-05).
