Duties
As a Public Health Analyst (Policy & Issues Management) you will:
Perform projects to analyze public health legislation, regulations, executive directives, and Departmental policy issuances, as well as other influential statements of policy.
Analyze public health problems, issues, or program requirements that may be unstable or complex.
Develop materials to explain public health programs to the general public and to specific groups including Congressional staff, legislative committees and subcommittees, state policy makers, Departmental and other executive branch officials, and other groups interested in specific program activities.
Assist in developing the organization's short and long-range goals, and also assist in program evaluation and the measurement of program outcomes.
Develop timely and complete responses to FMO, Centers for Disease Control (CDC) Washington Office /Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS), and others, on matters related to program activities, and in so doing ensures consistency with organization, CDC, and DHHS policies.
Manage linkages and relationships with a variety of national, state and local organizations as well as other Federal agencies.
Develop new programmatic initiatives and assess issues of importance to the mission and activities of the program.

Minimum Qualifications:
To qualify at the GS-12 grade level, you must have at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-11 grade level, which must include the following experience: conducting issues management, legislative analysis, policy research and developing related materials for the public and specific groups including Congressional and legislative staff and coordinating initiatives related to the organization.
Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
Education
Copy of your transcripts or equivalent documentation is required for positions with an education requirement, or if you are qualifying based on education or a combination of education and experience. An official transcript will be required if you are selected.
College or university degree generally must be from an accredited (or pre-accredited) college or university recognized by the U.S. Department of Education. For a list of schools which meet these criteria, please refer to
