This is a Direct Hire Authority (DHA) solicitation utilizing the DHA for Domestic Defense Industrial Base (DIB) Facilities and the Major Range and Test Facilities Base (MRTFB) in the Department of Defense to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to positions in the competitive service.
Duties
Ensure work assignments are distributed and performed in a timely manner by employees.
Review police reports, patrol reports and ongoing investigations to ensure complete, concise and factual information reporting.
Initial point of contact for all in person or telephone communications with the public concerning law enforcement matters which occur on an assigned shift.
Conduct preliminary investigations in accordance with assimilated state laws, Federal statutes, and fish and games laws on the installation while holding full jurisdictional authority.
Respond to and investigates emergency calls, complaints and other calls for service.
Requirements
- Incumbent will be required to successfully complete a Police Officer Field Training Program within 6 months upon initial assignment to law enforcement duties and maintain certification.
- Must attend the United States Army Military Police School Civilian Police Academy and successfully graduate within 12 months of hire date; unless incumbent has a current approved waiver/exception from the Office of the Provost Marshal General
- Incumbent must be able to successfully gain and pass training certification related to police work functions.
- Incumbent must successfully pass a pre-employment and recurring medical evaluation.
- Incumbent must pass a Physical Agility Test (PAT) within 30 days of hire date and annually thereafter.
- Employee is expected to maintain a high standard of conduct and is assessed for social adjustment, emotional stability, sound judgement, dependability, flexibility in adjusting to changes, ability to work under pressure , and a positive attitude.
- Position is a drug testing-designated position and will require incumbent to sign a DA 5019 Condition of Employment. Individual must agree to submit to a urinalysis on a recurring basis.
- Must meet the Lautenberg Amendment to the Gun Control Act of 1968. Persons convicted of a misdemeanor or felony crime of domestic violence are not eligible for this position
- Incumbent in this position is designated as Mission Essential, in the event of a crisis situation or inclement weather, the incumbent must continue to perform the duties until relieved by proper authority.
- Incumbent must be fully qualified to operate a government vehicle. Must possess and maintain a valid state drivers license. Loss of license may result in removal from the position.
- Incumbent must be able obtain and maintain a valid Tier 3 (Secret) security investigation.
- Hours of work are subject to irregular and/or rotating shifts, evenings, nights, weekends and holidays. Incumbent is required to work overtime as directed and is subject to recall for emergency overtime.
- Official Temporary Duty (TDY) up to 10% of the time may be required.
- Incumbent is subject to possible civil action due to improper exercises of authority or injudicious use of force in the apprehension or detention of individuals.
- One-year probationary period.
- This is a third shift position.

In order to qualify, you must meet the experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience.
Specialized Experience One year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-07 grade level in the Federal service 1) conducting Police Operation functions; utilizing knowledge of law enforcement operations, practices, and techniques to determine applicable charges and violations; 2) issuing citations; obtaining and protecting evidence; 3) interviewing witnesses and/or conduct preliminary investigations on criminal cases.
This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-07).
Investigation of Fitness:A character investigation may be conducted on applicants selected for employment.
