You will serve as a Secretary (OA) in the Commanding Officer's Staff of NAVSUP FLT LOGISTICS CNTR JACKSONVILLE.

Duties

You will recommend changes in administrative policies to eliminate conflicts and duplication, clarify confusing guidelines, and devise office procedures and practices to be used by secretaries in subordinate offices. You will maintain the daily calendar of the Commanding Officer, Executive Officer and Executive Director. You will establish priorities, set up, reschedule, or refuse appointments, accept or decline invitations to meetings, and arrange for representation by a substitute official when necessary. You will receive and screen visitors and phone calls from higher organizational levels, other agencies, or important public interests. You will make travel arrangements based on general travel intentions, known preferences of traveler and in accordance with appropriate travel regulations. You will compose non-technical correspondence on topics such as office procedures, requests for information, and the handling of Congressional or other sensitive matters based on knowledge of unwritten policies, precedents, and practices.

  • You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.

Qualifications

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-08 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector performing Secretary work by applying knowledge of clerical and administrative procedures, concepts, principles, and practices sufficient to independently perform a broad range of planning, administrative, and technical executive-level support tasks. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: 1) Demonstrating strong computer/ typing skills to review and prepare incoming and outgoing correspondence per existing regulations; 2) Managing records, calendars, invitations, scheduling, and customer support using automated office information software; 3) Coordinating and communicating with senior personnel internal and external to the command; 4) Preparing travel arrangements, orders, and vouchers for personnel. This position requires the ability to type at least 40 words per minute. Your response to the typing skill question on the Occupational Questionnaire will be used in your qualification determination.
