This position is located in the Department of Health & Human Services (HHS), Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS), Office of Program Operations and Local Engagement (OPOLE), Drug and Health Plan Operations (DHPO), Medicare Plan Management Group (MPMG).
As a Supervisory Health Insurance Specialist, GS-0107-14, you will serve as first-line supervisor to employees in the Division, who are directly responsible for the administration of designated program activities.
Duties
Direct and coordinate division activities relating to the provision of plan technical assistance and oversight of Medicare Parts C and D, or MMP drug and health plans assigned to the Division.
Provide authoritative direction, guidance, and technical assistance to all types of drug and health plans assigned to the Division, implementing CMS policies and instructions.
Collaborate and demonstrate teamwork working with other Divisions operating in the Group, on cross-cutting program, operational, and staffing matters, to achieve program results.
Oversee the implementation of corrective actions and make recommendations to the Group Director for enforcement actions.
Set priorities, prepare schedules for completion of work, assign work based on priorities, give advice and provide counsel or instruction to employees on both work and administrative matters.

In order to qualify for the GS-14, you must meet the following: You must demonstrate in your resume at least one year (52 weeks) of qualifying specialized experience equivalent to the GS-13 grade level in the Federal government, obtained in either the private or public sector, to include:
(1) Serving as a liaison to investigate and resolve stakeholder inquiries, problems and complaints related to health insurance programs such as Medicare, Medicaid, Marketplace Exchange or other managed care program; AND
(2) Leading or supervising others through assigning, prioritizing and reviewing work; AND
(3) Making decisions or recommendations to improve existing health insurance program operations, such as Medicare, Medicaid, Marketplace Exchange or other managed care program operations.
Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
Time-in-Grade: To be eligible, current Federal employees must have served at least 52 weeks (one year) at the next lower grade level from the position/grade level(s) to which they are applying.
