Job opening: Small Arms Repair Inspector Supervisor

Salary: $34 - 40 per hour

About the Position: The Anniston Army Depot is located in Anniston, Alabama in the foothills of the Appalachian Mountain chain half way between Atlanta, GA and Birmingham, Alabama just off interstate 20. The depot is the largest Employer in Calhoun County with approximately 4000 employees.

Duties

Plan, weekly and monthly schedules and sequence of operation for subordinates. Establish deadlines and priorities on the basis of general work schedules, methods, and procedures. Determine equipment, supplies and maintenance required. Investigate work related problems to identify causes. Maintain necessary documentation pertaining to compliance of hazardous materials.

Requirements

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • This position requires the completion of a pre-employment Physical Examination and an annual examination thereafter to ensure the continued, required level of physical health and ability or fitness to perform the duties of the position.
  • This position is subject to a pre-employment screening, and random testing, to include testing based on reasonable suspicion and testing due to direct involvement with an on-duty accident.
  • This position is subject to the provisions of the Domestic Violence Offender Gun Ban commonly referred to as the Lautenberg Amendment.
  • Incumbent must have and maintain a valid and current driver's license.
  • Incumbent must be able to obtain and maintain a Government Issued credit card for TDY/travel expenses.
  • Incumbent must be able to obtain an official government passport (Red) for OCONUS TDY/travel.
  • Incumbent is required to complete DA Form 7281-R, Command Oriented Arms, Ammunition, and Explosives Security Screening and Evaluation
  • Incumbent of subject position may be required to travel up to 95% of time to CONUS and OCONUS locations.
  • This position is supervisory as defined by the Office of Personnel Management's (OPM) General Schedule Supervisory Guide (GSSG). A one-year probation to assess your ability to perform supervisory duties is required unless previously completed.

Minimum Qualifications (Screen Out Element): Ability to do the work of an Small Arms Repair Inspector Supervisor without more than normal supervision. The ability to perform common duties by serving as a technical and administrative supervisor in the Fielding Operations Division, exercising full supervisory responsibility over Small Arms Readiness and Evaluation Team (SARET).Plan weekly and monthly work schedules and sequence of operations for subordinates. Explain work requirements, methods, and procedures and provide advice when problems arise. In addition, develop performance standards, counsels employees on performance, and makes formal and informal performance appraisals. Work under normal supervision of a work leader or journey-level employee who observes tasks in progress and upon completion to make sure they are properly performed. - Failure to meet this Screen Out Element will result in an ineligible rating. Ability to Interpret Instructions, Specification, etc. (includes blueprint reading)Ability To Lead or SuperviseKnowledge of Equipment Assembly, Installation, Repair, etc.Technical Practices (Theoretical, precise, artistic)Trouble Shooting Physical Effort: Frequently lifts objects weighing 15 to 20 pounds and often carries objects weighing up to 50 pounds. Work requires bending, walking, lifting and long periods of standing. Working Conditions: The work is generally accomplished inside in areas that are well lighted, heated, and ventilated. May occasionally work outside or in areas that are drafty, hot and poorly lighted. The work is sometimes dusty, dirty, and greasy. Frequently exposed to the possibility of cuts, scrapes and bruises. Subjected to different type of cleaning and lubricating sprays. Safety equipment is provided and employee may be required to use protective clothing or gear such as masks, safety shoes, goggles, hearing protection, safety glasses, and gloves.
