Job opening: Small Arms Repairer Inspector Leader

Salary: $29 - 34 per hour

About the Position: The Anniston Army Depot is located in Anniston, Alabama in the foothills of the Appalachian Mountain chain halfway between Atlanta, GA and Birmingham, AL just off Interstate 20. The Depot is the largest employer in Calhoun County with approximately 4000 employees.

Duties

Serves as working leader of 3 or more employees in accomplishing trades and labor work. Insures that needed plans, blueprints, material, and tools are available, and that needed stock is obtained from supply locations. Uses various automated systems such as but not limited to Logistic Modernization Program (LMP), Automated Tool Inventory Control and Tracking System (ATICTS) and Electronic Facilities Equipment Maintenance System (EFEMS). Performs the full range of work involved in the inspection, overhaul, maintenance, and repair of small arms in support of the Small Arms Readiness Evaluation Team for Fielding Operations. Trains less experienced workers in repair and maintenance techniques. Performs final inspection of weapons utilizing visual inspection.

Requirements

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • Incumbent required to take and pass a drug test and sign AR 600-85 and DA Form 5019.
  • Incumbent is required to travel up to 75% or more to support SARET and other fielding operations at locations CONUS and OCONUS.
  • Incumbent must have and maintain a valid and current driver's license.
  • Federal Wage System employees, WG/WL/WS etc., must satisfactorily complete and past the appropriate annual Depot Medical Examination.
  • Incumbent will be required to sign the Lautenberg Amendment Form and it be maintained on file while incumbent is occupying this position.
  • Incumbent will be required to obtain and maintain a government issued credit card for travel expenses.
  • Incumbent will be required to obtain and maintain an official government passport (Red) for travel outside the Continental United States.
  • Incumbent is required to obtain and maintain adjudicated DA Form 7708, Personnel Reliability Screening and Evaluation, in order to work around Arms, Ammunition, and Explosives per Army Regulation (AR) 190-11 and AR 190-13.

I have the ability to perform common duties performing inspections, repairs and final inspections and acceptance for a wide a variety of Small Arms and mortars systems. I can inspect a variety of small arms for safety and serviceability. Determines extent of required repairs in accordance with proper technical manuals for completeness and serviceability. - Failure to meet this Screen Out Element will result in an ineligible rating. Ability to Interpret Instructions, Specifications, etc. (Includes Blueprint Reading)Ability to Lead or SuperviseAbility to Use and Maintain Tools and EquipmentKnowledge of Equipment Assembly, Installation, and Repair, etc.Technical Practices (Theoretical, Precise, Artistic)TroubleshootingUse of Measuring Instruments PHYSICAL EFFORT: Frequently lifts objects weighing 15 to 20 pounds and often carries objects weighing up to 50 pounds. Work requires bending, stooping, walking, lifting, carrying and long periods of standing. Work is often under field conditions and requires manual lifting of various objects to include tables, benches, chairs, etc, varying in different height and weight for pre-mission set-up assembly and post mission pack up. WORKING CONDITIONS: The work is generally accomplished inside in areas that are well lighted, heated, and ventilated. May occasionally work outside or in areas that are drafty, hot and or cold in temperatures, and poorly lighted. The work is sometimes dusty, dirty, and greasy. Frequently exposed to the possibility of cuts, scrapes and bruises. Subjected to different type of cleaning and lubricating sprays. Personal protective equipment is required and worn to minimize exposure to a variety of hazards and employees may be required to use protective clothing or gear such as masks, safety shoes, goggles, hearing protection, safety glasses, and gloves.
