Duties
You will serve as a Telecommunications Specialist in Hampton Roads BCO Division (N92), External Support Department (N9) at Naval Computer and Telecommunications Area Master Station Atlantic (NCTAMS LANT).
You will be responsible for receiving and analyzing requests for telecommunications services from host and tenant organizations.
You will ensure NCTAMSLANT base communications office (BCO) sites are in compliance with applicable Department of Defense (DOD) and Navy Directives.
You will ensure vulnerability scanning is conducted at local and regional BCO sites within NCTAMSLANT area of responsibility (AOR) in accordance with (IAW) applicable Computer Tasking Orders.
You will provide advice relating to Network services and the underlying supporting technology.
You will be responsible for validating or implementing network designs to include connectivity, network management, security, and systems integration requirements.
You will be responsible for the telecommunications infrastructure, outside cable plant, which encompasses copper and fiber facilities, distribution frame rooms, manholes, duct banks, conduits, and telephone poles.
You will analyze traffic data for telecommunications networks as a part of broader studies or at the request of customers.
You will conduct training, both formal and informal, on appropriate telecommunications topics for customer and staff personnel.

Qualifications
Applicant must have directly applicable experience that demonstrates the possession of knowledge, skills, abilities, and competencies necessary for immediate success in the position. Qualifying experience may have been acquired in any public or private sector job, but will clearly demonstrate past experience in the application of the particular competencies or knowledge, skills and abilities necessary to successfully perform the duties of the position. Such experience is typically in or directly related to the work of the position to be filled. Qualifying experience would be demonstrated by:
-Experience monitoring vulnerability management systems and websites for current vulnerabilities.
-Experience briefing senior leaders on mitigation findings and completion of corrective actions.
-Experience analyzing telecommunications traffic for performance, and trends to determine quality and utilization of equipment or service.
-Experience conducting physical inspections of facilities and cable networks to ensure reliable and adequate connectivity and are in compliance with regulatory specifications.
