Serves as the Regional Emergency Transportation Representative (RETREP) for the US Department of Transportation (DOT) Region (as designated in the National Response Plan by DHS-FEMA/DOT). The RETREP provides support to and represents the DOT by assisting Federal, State, Tribal and local government entities voluntary and nongovernmental organizations, and the private sector in the management of transportation systems and infrastructure during domestic threats or in response to incidents.

Duties

The position reports directly to the Deputy Regional Administrator in the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) Southwest Region, Office of Policy, International Affairs and Environment (APL), National Engagement & Regional Administration (ARA).

Requirements

  • US Citizenship is required.
  • Selective Service Registration is required for males born after 12/31/1959.
  • Must submit an SF50 (See Required Documents).
  • Designated or Random Drug Testing required.
  • This position requires that the incumbent obtain and maintain a top secret clearance.

Qualifications

To qualify for this position you must demonstrate in your application that you possess at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to FV-I, FG/GS-13 in the Federal Service. Specialized experience is experience that has equipped you with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform successfully the duties of the position. Specialized experience include: experience with emergency management planning and coordination efforts, experience with Federal emergency management structure, the National Response Plan and the role of DOT within it.Qualifications must be met by the closing date of this vacancy announcement.Eligible applicants meeting the minimum qualification requirements and selective factor(s), if applicable, may be further evaluated on the Knowledge, Skills and Abilities (KSA) listed under the Evaluation Criteria section. Provides expert guidance and instruction both internally and externally to address diverse, complex emergency response issues which often cross multiple projects, programs, and/or functional areas.

Work typically is reviewed only at completion for success in achieving planned results. Work activities typically impact directly on the objectives of one or more organizational units, major subdivisions, Lines of Business/Staff Offices and the objectives of the FAA.

This position requires that the incumbent obtain and maintain a top secret clearance.
