Duties

You will develop recommendations for corrective measures where data indicates adverse rate of accidents, hazardous conditions or procedures, or other deficiencies You will develop action plans for safety support to include initiatives and milestones You will provide interpretation and guidance concerning the application of safety regulations, policies, procedures and standards.

Requirements

  • Must be a US Citizen.
  • Must be determined suitable for federal employment.
  • Must participate in the direct deposit pay program.

  • Within the Department of Defense (DoD), the appointment of retired military members within 180 days immediately following retirement date to a civilian position is subject to the provisions of 5 United States Code 3326.
  • Males born after 12-31-59 must be registered for Selective Service.
  • Must possess a TOP SECRET/SCI security clearance and must obtain and maintain NSA badging for NIPR/SIPR/NSANet accounts. Failure to possess and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
  • Must pass a Counterintelligence Polygraph.
  • Testing Designated Position (TDP). Employee must successfully pass a urinalysis screening for illegal drug use prior to appointment and subsequent periodic drug screening thereafter.
  • The incumbent may be required to perform occasional travel (25% or less) which may involve the use of commercial and/or government aircraft.
  • You will be required to complete training, obtain, and maintain a government credit card for travel and travel-related purchases.
  • This position is not telework eligible.
  • Work is generally of a difficult nature and requires superior acuteness and discernment to determine the breath and intensity of effort involved in several phases concurrently with other activities both within and outside MARFORCYBER.
  • The incumbent must be willing to work a flexible schedule in order to accomplish mission assignments, and to attend numerous conferences and community meetings to articulate both MARFORCYBER and Marine Corps positions.
  • Requires periodic weekend/holiday work

Qualifications

Applicants must have directly applicable experience that demonstrates the possession of knowledge, skills, abilities, and competencies necessary for immediate success in the position. Qualifying experience may have been acquired in any public or private sector job, but will clearly demonstrate past experience in the application of the particular competencies or knowledge, skills and abilities necessary to successfully perform the duties of the position. Such experience is typically in or directly relates to the work of the position to be filled. Qualifying experience would be demonstrated by: Planning, scheduling, and conducting inspections of safety programs. Implementing programs of moderate complexity in one or more specific areas of safety and occupational health. This position is within the Work Category Professional at Work Level Full Performance, Series and Grade GG-0018-11. Individual Occupational Requirements

Education

Undergraduate and Graduate Education: Major study -- safety or occupational health fields (safety, occupational health, industrial hygiene), or degree in other related fields that included or was supplemented by at least 24 semester hours of study from among the following (or closely related) disciplines: safety, occupational health, industrial hygiene, occupational medicine, toxicology, public health, mathematics, physics, chemistry, biological sciences, engineering, and industrial psychology.

Experience

Experience in or related to safety and occupational health that provided the specific knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform successfully the duties of the position.

Certificates

Certification as a Certified Safety Professional (CSP), Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH), or Certified Health Physicist (CHP), or similar certification that included successful completion of a written examination meets the requirements for GS-5. Applicants may also qualify for higher grade levels based on their education and/or experience.


At a minimum, all CES employees in the Professional Work Category require a bachelor's degree or equivalent experience. Some groups in this category, however, may have a positive education requirement that cannot be replaced with experience, such as a requirement for a particular type or level of an academic degree.
