About the position: This position will be assigned to the This position will be assigned to the Joint Base Charleston or Naval Weapons Station Base Pool.
Will be determined by the facility. May work have to work at both the Charleston Air Force Base and Weapon Station which is be determined by the facility.
Physical Effort: Must be physically fit and be capable of lifting and moving up to 40 pounds.
Duties
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Maintains Outdoor Recreation facilities, grounds, and equipment in a clean, safe, operational, and pleasing manner. Observes operating instructions available for the Outdoor Recreation Center program to include departmental policies, regulations, and operating standards, command level regulations, and procedures, and local policies set by Flight Chief, Squadron Commander, and/or Support Group Commander. Assumes custody of change fund. Opens center for business. Collects and accounts for fees and sales. Prepares Cashier Reports and other required records and reports. Oversees activities in progress and renders assistance as needed, Closes area at the end of the day. Places equipment in proper storage areas. Reconciles cash with record accountability. Assists at the front counter helping customers with the variety of equipment, programs and facilities we offer. Helps other staff members with projects and customers so that the ORC runs smoothly. Communicates with other staff members so that procedures are uniform. Assists in conducting inventories. Position is a position of trust.
Continuously observes swimming area to ensure safety of patrons. Ensures the swimming area is open to patrons at scheduled times and only authorized persons are admitted to the area. Rescues swimmers in trouble, promptly administers first aid, and calls for medical assistance if and when needed. Warns swimmers of unsafe environmental or health conditions, ocean conditions of rough water or hazards, and recommends closing swimming areas until safe conditions prevail. When working at pools, may operate water pumps and control chemical additives to ensure pool water meets specified standards. Ensures that diving boards are inspected frequently for cracks or loose matting, and that necessary repairs are made. May perform other related or incidental duties as assigned for the daily operation of the swimming area to includes cleaning of bath houses, wading pools, main pools, pool decks, beach areas, sunbathing areas, etc. Performs other related duties as assigned.

In order to qualify, you must meet the experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if the position allows for qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application.
Qualifying Experience:
Practical knowledge of recreational programs, recreational activities, rules, and procedures is desirable; however, no experience is required. Ability to safeguard and handle cash is desired. Skill in the use and maintenance of various recreational equipment is also desirable. Must be physically fit and capable of lifting and moving up to 40 pounds. Must be able to satisfactorily complete a pre-employment physical. Must complete CPR and First Aid training for adults and children within 30 days of being hired. Satisfactory completion of installation records checks, state and national criminal background checks may be required for positions that provide lifesaving duties for children. Successful completion and favorable adjudication of applicable background investigation (Tier 1 Level) is required.
Must be courteous and exercise diplomacy and tact when dealing with co-workers, supervisors, and customers. Expected to have no more than two (2) valid customer complaints per rating cycle. Cash handling procedures must be adhered to with no more than four (4) minor errors per rating cycle permitted. Minor errors are classified as overages or shortages of $10.00 or less. Must submit required reports and documents in proper fom1at IAW proper procedures within time frames established by supervisor, with no more than four (4) submissions submitted with erroneous information or improper format per rating cycle. Expected to adhere to all fire, safety, and security regulations and practices with no more than (1) violation per rating cycle. Provides accurate guidance and assistance to patrons concerning program events, tickets, fees, equipment, instructions, etc. Resolves problems promptly with minimal adverse impact to the customer and to the activity.

Education
Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. This position does not allow for education substitution.
FOREIGN EDUCATION: Education completed in foreign colleges or universities may be used to meet the requirements. You must show proof the education credentials have been deemed to be at least equivalent to that gained in conventional U.S. education program. It is your responsibility to provide such evidence when applying.
TRAINING
Conferences, workshops, seminars, formal and informal training involved in recreational programs and recreational equipment, safety, customer service, ethic, EEO, fund handling, anti-robbery, fire protection, and other activity/installation required training. Must complete CPR Certification to include Bloodborne Pathogens and First Aid Certification within 30 days of employment. In addition, Hepatitis B Vaccination within six (6) months of employment may be required.
