Duties
As a Public Health Analyst (Policy) you will:
Provide leadership, direction, and management for the organization in the development and maintenance of public health initiatives.
Develop projects to identify, review, and analyze complex and highly visible public health legislation, executive directives, and departmental policy issuances.
Propose public health program changes necessary to respond to changes in priorities, guidance, or policy.
Support the implementation of new public health programmatic initiatives and assess issues of importance to the mission and activities of the program.
Serve as an advisor and provide leadership on strategic planning for the organization, and when designated, represent the organization at meetings, conferences, or presentations.
Facilitate the development of the organization's comprehensive programmatic response to emerging public health issues relevant to the organization's mission.
Perform activities related to budget performance integration that are complex and contain complicating elements.
Assist organizational units in preparing budget or program initiatives that are consistent with organization, CDC, and HHS priorities.
Prepare briefing materials for senior managers regarding public health problems, and CDC strategies, program responses to health problems, health policies, as well as other priority topics.

Minimum Qualifications:
To qualify at the GS-13 grade level, you must have at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-12 grade level, which must include the following experience: in the development and coordination of program planning, evaluation and policy issues as they relate to public health organizations, plan, direct, and coordinate national and international progress on issues related to public health.
Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
Education
Copy of your transcripts or equivalent documentation is required for positions with an education requirement, or if you are qualifying based on education or a combination of education and experience. An official transcript will be required if you are selected.
College or university degree generally must be from an accredited (or pre-accredited) college or university recognized by the U.S. Department of Education. For a list of schools which meet these criteria, please refer to

FOREIGN EDUCATION: Education completed in foreign colleges or universities may be used to meet the requirements. You must show proof the education credentials have been deemed to be at least equivalent to that gained in conventional U.S. education program.
