This career/career-conditional permanent full-time position is located in Shenandoah National Park, in the Facilities Management Division.
Travel, transportation, and relocation expenses will be paid if the selectee lives outside of the local commuting area and is otherwise eligible for reimbursement of relocation expenses in accordance with the Federal Travel Regulation.
Duties
The purpose of this position is to effectively manage the continuous operation, maintenance, and repair/rehabilitation of water and wastewater utility systems within Shenandoah National Park (SNP). Systems include potable water pumping, storage, transmission, treatment and distribution systems; wastewater collection, storage and treatment systems; chlorination systems; and state certified potable water and wastewater quality testing laboratories. Duties include:
Effectively manage and supervise the operation and maintenance of water and wastewater utility systems.
Develop bi-weekly operational planning through multi-year repair/rehab, cyclic and preventative maintenance planning.
Utilize an automatic financial system to prepare, monitor and maintain a balanced annual budget.
Responsible for the complete and accurate compliance of the SNPs utility systems in accordance with State and Federal regulations.

Water Treatment Certificate: You must possess and maintain a current Water Treatment Operators Certificate, and you must be able to secure and maintain a valid Virginia Department of Health Services Class 6 or higher Water Treatment Operators Certificate. Wastewater Treatment Certificate: You must possess and maintain a current Wastewater Treatment Operators Certificate, and you must be able to secure and maintain a valid Virginia Department of Health Services Class 2 or higher Wastewater Treatment Operators Certificate. Please indicate the level of certification you currently possess.
POSITION LOCATION: Shenandoah National Park is located in Virginia, approximately 90 miles southwest of Washington, D.C. The park consists of approximately 197,000 acres of land, including 80,000 acres designated as wilderness. It also contains 105 miles of Skyline Drive and 101 miles of the Appalachian Trail. Annual visitation is around 1.3 million, which has direct and extensive economic impact on the surrounding area (eight counties and nine municipalities). The park's natural, cultural and recreational resources are of vital interest to local and regional businesses, political leaders, conservation and outdoor recreation organizations, and the Commonwealth of Virginia.
Qualifications
The Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Job Qualifications System for Trades and Labor Occupations (X-118-C) will be used in determining applicants' qualifications.
