This announcement uses the Certain Personnel of the DoD direct hire authority to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to positions in the competitive service.
Duties
You will responsible for planning, directing, and coordinating all segments of range maintenance providing a completely integrated
maintenance program aboard the Townsend Bombing Range (TBR).
You will ensure safe operation of all range maintenance functions by continuous development of safe and efficient range maintenance procedures by establishing the safest and simplest procedures possible.
You will participate in studies of TBR to determine the adequacy of TBR to accommodate projected requirements of land expansion and development, environmental planning, target development and facility maintenance.
You will develop long and short—range plans for renovation, modernization, modification, automation, deactivation, and conversion/ commissioning of range facilities.
You will enforce the use of safety clothing and equipment operation.
You will be responsible for training subordinates in work methods and procedures, safe work practices, and proper operations of facility
and target maintenance, and equipment operations.
Requirements

- You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final Secret security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
- You will be required to wear personal protective equipment such as helmets, gloves, coveralls, glasses, goggles, respirators and safety shoes continuously for the duration of the work shift.
- You will be required to successfully complete a pre-appointment physical examination.
- This position is considered Key/Non-Combat Essential. You will be required to provide immediate and continuing support of the expeditionary requirements in other than combat or combat support situations.
- You will be required to possess and maintain a current valid United States driver’s license.
- Incumbent is required to take the necessary training to obtain a Class “B” Commercial Driver’s License with a Tanker and Hazardous Material endorsement within 90 days of employment.
- This position is designated a key position in accordance with DOD Directive 1200.7.
- The use of safety equipment or protective clothing is required to use when appropriate and authorized by the Range Safety Officer.
Qualifications

Qualification requirements emphasis is on quality of experience, not necessarily the length of time.
