The primary purpose of this position is to Manage all functions as the Chief, Special Security Office (also referred to as SSO). This office is the single point of contact and office of the primary responsibility (OPR) for all Sensitive Compartmented information (SCI) and intelligence information security functions and information assurance actions.

Duties

Performs Duties as a Special Security Officer. Performs Security Support to the 412 TW. Provides Security Support SCI Management. Provides Support to the Security Core Service Missions.

  • All new DCIPS employees are required to complete a two-year DCIPS trial period.

  • Department of Defense Security Fundamentals Professional Certification (SFPC) and Security Asset Protection Professional Certification (SAPPC) conferrals are required within 2 years of the established employment.
  • Incumbent must be able to obtain and retain a TOP SECRET (TS) security clearance with access to Sensitive Compartmented Information (SCI) to fully perform the duties and responsibilities of the position. A non-disclosure agreement must be signed.
  • This is a Centrally Managed position. You may qualify for reimbursement of relocation expenses in accordance with agency policy.

Qualifications

This is a GG-13 position in the Defense Civilian Intelligence Personnel System (DCIPS). The GG-13 duties for the "Professional" work category are at the "Full Performance" work level and are equivalent to those at the GS-13 level. The selectee's salary will be set within the grade equivalent to a GS/GG grade based on the selectee's qualifications in relation to the job. In order to qualify, you must meet the specialized experience requirements described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards for General Schedule Positions, Security Administration Series 0080, under Group Coverage Qualification Standard for Administrative and Management Positions for this series. EXPERIENCE REQUIRED: Your resume must reflect the quality level of experience which demonstrates the possession of the knowledge, skills, abilities, and competencies necessary for successful job performance required for this position. Examples of creditable experience include: demonstration of the knowledge of concepts, principles and practices in security administration and intelligence, and skill in applying this knowledge to difficult and complex work assignments, and to guide the work of other specialists or comprehensive, intensive, practical knowledge of Enterprise Risk Management and skill in applying this knowledge to the development of new methods, approaches, or procedures. Serves as the authoritative source for all information protection disciplines. Note: Creditable experience may include previous military experience, experience gained in the private sector, or experience gained in another government agency. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSAs): Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the following areas: 1. Knowledge of wide range of security concepts, principles, and practices to review, independently analyze, and resolve difficult and complex security problems; applies policy direction to contractors and government/military officials, and develop guidance for applying security policy, procedures, techniques, equipment, and methods to a variety of work situations and various levels or degrees of security controls. 2. Knowledge of broad range of security program relationships, and proficiency in information, personnel and industrial security to effectively implement and administer applicable security programs and/or coordinate with other specialized security programs. 3. Knowledge of security classification methods, concepts and eligibility for access to classified or sensitive information to review plans for proposed or new projects, organizations, and/or missions to assure the presence of adequate planning for information security and other controls. 4. Knowledge of required security training concepts, programs, and procedures to develop security education programs, provide training, and assist in operating security programs. 5. Skill in planning, developing, implementing, and evaluating security program to meet mission requirements and improve the security program. 6. Ability to plan, organiza work, and meet deadlines. PART-TIME OR UNPAID EXPERIENCE: Credit will be given for appropriate unpaid and or part-time work. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week. VOLUNTEER WORK EXPERIENCE: Refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service Programs (i.e., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student and social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge and skills that can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
