About the Position: This position is with the United States Army Reserve Command, Internal Review, Audit & Audit Follow-Up Branch located at Fort Liberty, North Carolina.
Duties
Evaluate revisions of the accounting and managerial systems supporting the missions of the Command.
Oversee subordinate action officers in the coordination of external audit agencies such as Government Accountability Office (GAO), Department of Defense Inspector General (DODIG) and the United States Army Audit Agency (USAAA).
Provide technical guidance to audit teams.
Supervise the management oversight function of subordinate command internal review programs.
Ensure that accounting information is verified during normal course of audits.
Identify accounting and operational requirements to support existing or new activities or missions.
Ensure compliance with accounting and operational policies.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- This position requires DoD Financial Management Certification Program Level 3.

Basic Requirement for Supervisory Auditor:
Degree: auditing; or a degree in a related field such as business administration, finance, public administration or accounting.
or
Combination of education and experience: at least 4 years of experience in Performance Auditing, or an equivalent combination of performance auditing experience, college-level education, and training that provided professional auditing knowledge. The applicant's background must also include one of the following:
A certificate as a Certified Internal Auditor or a Certified Public Accountant, obtained through written examination; or
Completion of the requirements for a degree that included substantial course work in auditing or accounting, e.g., 15 semester hours.
In addition to meeting the basic requirement above, to qualify for this position you must also meet the qualification requirements listed below:
Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes:
1. Performing audits of organizational operational, administrative and financial operations in accordance with Generally Accepted Government Auditing Standards.
2. Managing audit staff to ensure the most effective use of resources.
3. Formulating methods, procedures, and standards for performing internal audits.
4. Providing technical audit advice and guidance and evaluating the audit work of subordinate staff, detailed team members and auditors throughout the Army Reserve.
5. Developing and implementing audit policies.
This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-13).
Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted.
