You will serve as a FIRE PROTECTION SPECIALIST in the First Coast Fire and Emergency Services Department of NAS JAX. This is a RE-ADVERTISEMENT of Announcement Number: ST-12598143-25-MAK. Applicants that have previously applied NEED to re-apply to this announcement.

Duties

You will develop and maintain fire or emergency services training records. You will develop training and safety programs in accordance with regulatory agencies (e.g., Department of Defense, Occupational Health and Safety Administration [OSHA], National Fire Protection Association [NFPA]). You will explain work requirements to fire inspectors and other employees related to new or changed procedures. You will prepare strategic plans, facilities master plans, risk assessments, or standard of response coverage documents to ensure operational readiness.

Requirements

  • Generally, current federal employees applying for GS jobs must serve at least one year at the next lower grade level. This requirement is called time-in-grade. Time-in-grade requirements must be met by the closing date of this announcement.

  • You will be required to obtain and maintain a current valid United States driver’s license.
  • You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
  • Successful completion of a pre-employment drug test (including marijuana) is required. A tentative offer of employment will be rescinded if you fail to report to the drug test appointment or fail the test. You will be subject to random testing.
  • You will be required to wear personal protective equipment such as helmets, gloves, coveralls, glasses, goggles, respirators and safety shoes continuously for the duration of the work shift.
  • Work is performed in areas where potentially harmful physical and chemical agents are present (e.g. fumes, dust, heat, ionizing and non-ionizing radiation and chemicals). You will be required to participate in medical surveillance programs.
  • This position is considered Key/Emergency-Essential. You will be required to provide immediate and continuing support to ensure the success of combat operations or the availability of combat-essential systems.
  • This is a Mission Essential position. You will be required to ensure organization or facility continuity of operations and/or completion of tasks that are considered essential to the mission designated by a local or command decision.

Qualifications

In order to qualify for this position, your resume must provide sufficient experience and/or education, knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the duties of the specific position for which you are being considered. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: 1) Developing training and safety programs in accordance with regulatory agencies; 2) Managing the development and implementation of emergency medical services training plan; 3) Conducting course research, providing quality assurance, and maintaining budgetary controls for all training requirements; and 4) Completing written reports of program effectiveness, training academics, and study outcomes in order provide recommendations. For Applicants who are current or prior Federal competitive or excepted service employees Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of Specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-09 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: 1) Developing training and safety programs in accordance with regulatory agencies; 2) Managing the development and implementation of emergency medical services training plan; 3) Conducting course research, providing quality assurance, and maintaining budgetary controls for all training requirements; and 4) Completing written reports of program effectiveness, training academics, and study outcomes in order provide recommendations. This position requires the incumbent to possess the following certifications for this position: Fire Officer I, Fire Officer II, Fire Officer III, Fire Inspector I, Fire Inspector II, Fire Instructor I, Fire Instructor II, Fire Instructor III, HAZMAT Technician, HAZMAT Incident Commander, Airport Fire Firefighter, and National Registry Emergency Technician EMT. These certifications must have been awarded by DoD, IFSAC or ProBoard to meet the requirement. If you do not possess all of the above certifications and you have not attached a copy of your transcript or certifications, you will be rated ineligible.
