About the Position: This position is located at Eisenhower Army Medical Center, Fort Eisenhower, Georgia. This is a Direct Hire Solicitation

Duties

Transport patients from hospital units to the Operating Room assuring safe transportation of the patient. As a Surgical Scrub Technician, hands instruments to the surgeon during the procedure by anticipating the surgeon's needs. Orients and trains newly assigned personnel and students. As a circulator, provides operating room support to surgeons and anesthesiologists, and anticipates possible complications prior to, during and after procedures. Maintains alertness for complications developing during surgery such as hemorrhage, shock and cardiac arrest and immediately supplies instruments to correct the condition.

Requirements

• This position requires regular contact with children under the age 18 and a favorable determination of suitability to do so.
• This position is subject to annual seasonal influenza vaccinations. Applicants tentatively selected for this position will be required to sign a statement consenting to seasonal influenza vaccinations or must provide a recognized exemption.
• This position requires the completion of a pre-employment Physical Examination and an annual examination thereafter to ensure the continued, required level of physical health and ability or fitness to perform the duties of the position.
• This position is a Testing Designated Position (TDP) subject to applicant testing and random drug testing for incumbents.
• This position is covered by Health Affairs Policy 97006, 23 Oct 96 the position requires the employee to obtain Hepatitis B immunizations and Tuberculin testing unless exempt by physician.
• May be required to work evenings/nights; rotating shifts, extended hours, weekends, holidays or other schedules common to hospital operations.
• This position is an Inclement Weather Essential position.
• Employee may be required to wear and use personal protective equipment as required and provided by the employer.
• This position requires Basic Life Support training certification from, or in accordance with, the American Heart Association and American Red Cross. Current Advanced Life Support or other advanced certification does not supersede BLS completion.

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes providing support for surgical procedures such as routine to complex, high risk and/or trauma cases in an operating room in a Medical Treatment Facility. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-06). Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted.
