Duties

Provide a combination of technical (nonprofessional medical) and administrative tasks related to the Advance Life Support (ALS) treatment and care of patients in an emergency environment inside and outside the MTF/MC emergency room setting. Perform with an expanded scope of practice under medical direction as an advanced life support paramedic in the emergency department when not assigned to an ambulance. Conduct intake procedures obtains general medical information, including allergies and drug sensitivities; and takes and records vital signs. Recognize, stabilize, and provide emergent health care to a range of patients presenting with complex or multiple emergency systems dysfunctions. Act as liaison between patients and the primary professional medical care provider.

• The duties of this position require the incumbent to possess or obtain and maintain a valid state Driver's License in one of the 50 U.S. states or possessions to operate vehicles.
• This position has a requirement to lift up to 100 lbs. in the regular performance of duties.
• This position requires shift work to provide coverage on evenings, weekends, holidays, or special situations.
• Due to the nature of this position, employees are required to work both planned and unscheduled overtime.
• Employees assigned to a medical treatment facility are required to be screened for applicable immunizations or pre-existing immunity based on occupational risk, regardless of job series.
• This position has a mandatory seasonal influenza vaccination requirement and is subject to annual vaccination.
• This position requires to have and maintain a valid, unrestricted State Emergency Medical Technician license.
• Position requires a valid National Registry Emergency Medical Technician – Basic (NREMT-B) certification.
• Position requires an Advanced Emergency Medical Technician (AEMT) advanced certification; and/or Paramedic Certification (NRP).
• Position requires to have and maintain a current Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS).
• Position requires to have and maintain a current Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS).
• The employee may be recalled to duty from scheduled time off.
• May be required to work on any day or shift, including rotating shifts and/or irregular tour of duty to include weekends, nights, and/or holidays.
• Position requires to obtain and maintain NIMS ICS 100, 200, 700, and 800 level training within six months of hire.
• Occasional TDY.
