About the Position: Serves as a Security Specialist supporting the administration of the command's security program.

Duties

Performs a full range of standard and non-standard clerical and administrative duties to support personnel security program, including preparation of background checks. Provides authoritative information and assistance to management officials on personnel security policies and practices. Recommends personnel security investigative requirements. Advises on procedures for adverse personnel security determinations. Provides authoritative assistance and recommendations to the Supervisor on all matters pertaining to personnel and information security.

Requirements

• Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
• One year trial/probationary period may be required.
• This position requires the incumbent be able to obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Secret security clearance or access for the duration of employment.
• This position has a requirement to lift up to 15 lbs. in the regular performance of duties.
• This position requires the incumbent obtain the following core SPeD Certification: Security Fundamentals Professional Certification (SFPC) within their first two years of employment.

OR Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) beyond the first year (total graduate semester hours minus 18) by 18. Add the two percentages.
