Duties
Serves as an engineering technician with emphasis on the electrical and mechanical aspects of practical engineering. Such as renovation and renewal projects, electric power distribution, electrical infrastructure installation projects, etc.
Performs duties requiring practical engineering skills for all types of Sustainment, Restoration, and Modernization (SRM) construction, renovation, maintenance, and repair projects.
Responsible for developing plans, designs, drawings, specifications and cost estimates for a variety of projects of broad scope and complexity.
Performs technical work primarily requiring a working knowledge of methods and techniques of operation and maintenance of electrical distribution systems and controls. Provides technical engineering guidance and assistance on assigned projects.
Serves as Contracting Officer Representative with responsibility for field and office engineering management and surveillance of contract construction for new construction, services, modification, and repair work on buildings, structures, roads, etc.

Qualifications
To qualify for an Engineering Technician (Electrical), your resume and supporting documentation must support:
A. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience that equipped you with the particular competencies to successfully perform the duties of the position, and that is typically in or related to the position to be filled. For current and former Federal civilian service employees, to qualify for the GS-11 grade level, specialized experience must be at the GS-09 grade level or equivalent under other pay systems in the Federal service, military or private sector. For all other applicants, to qualify for the GS-11 grade level, specialized experience must be at the GS-10 grade level or equivalent in
the military or private sector. Applicants must meet eligibility requirements including minimum qualifications, and any other regulatory requirements by the cut-off/closing date of the announcement. Creditable specialized experience includes
Assisting in Sustainment, Restoration, and Modernization (SRM) construction, renovation, maintenance, and repair projects with emphasis on electrical equipment maintenance
Provides technical engineering guidance and assistance on assigned projects. These projects may include but are not limited to electronics and utility systems.
Investigates, analyzes, and resolves problems pertaining to the design, installation, maintenance, operation, or repair of the assigned projects.
Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional, philanthropic, religious, spiritual, community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
Education
Substitution of education may not be used in lieu of specialized experience for this grade level.
