Duties
Serves as an engineering technician with emphasis on electrical and mechanical aspects of engineering, such as renovation and renewal projects, fire alarm projects, electrical installation projects.
Performs duties requiring practical engineering skills for all types of Sustainment, Restoration, and Modernization (SRM) construction, renovation, maintenance, and repair projects.
Responsible for developing plans, designs, drawings, specifications and cost estimates for a variety of projects of broad scope and complexity.
Performs technical work primarily requiring a thorough working knowledge of methods and techniques of operation and maintenance of Fire alarm, HVAC, fire protection, mass notification and energy management systems and controls.
Provides technical engineering guidance and assistance on assigned projects.
Serves as Contracting Officer Representative (COR) with responsibility for "field and office" engineering management and surveillance of all contract construction;
involving new construction, services, alteration, modification, enlargement and repair work on buildings, structures, roads, etc. within Defense Supply Center
Columbus.

Qualifications
To qualify for an Engineering Technician (Electrical), your resume and supporting documentation must support:
A. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience that equipped you with the particular competencies to successfully perform the duties of the position, and that is typically in or related to the position to be filled. For current and former Federal civilian service employees, to qualify for the GS-11 grade level, specialized experience must be at the GS-09 grade level or equivalent under other pay systems in the Federal service, military or private sector. For all other applicants, to qualify for the GS-11 grade level, specialized experience must be at the GS-10 grade level or equivalent in the military or private sector. For current and former Federal civilian service employees, to qualify for the GS-09 grade level, specialized experience must be at the GS-07 grade level or equivalent under other pay systems in the Federal service, military or private sector. For all other applicants, to qualify for the GS-09 grade level, specialized experience must be at the GS-08 grade level or equivalent in the military or private sector. Applicants must meet
eligibility requirements including time-in-grade (General Schedule (GS) positions only), time-after-competitive appointment, minimum qualifications, and any other regulatory requirements by the cut-off/closing date of the announcement. Creditable specialized experience includes:
GS-10: Performing technical work primarily requiring a thorough working knowledge of methods and techniques of operation and maintenance of Fire alarm, HVAC, fire protection, mass notification and energy management systems and controls.
GS-09: Assisting in designing, redesign, and design modification of structures, systems, and other assigned projects requiring application of a considerable number of different methods, procedures, and techniques.
GS-08: Providing technical engineering concepts, principles and practices necessary to perform assigned projects concerned with producing, overhauling or redesigning structures and/or heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC), Energy Management, and Life Safety systems.
GS-07: Providing technical engineering guidance and assistance on assigned projects.
Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional, philanthropic, religious, spiritual, community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
Education
Substitution of education may not be used in lieu of specialized experience for this grade level.
