About the Position:
Serve as a 15E UAS Training Instructor (UAS) for the 2-13TH Aviation Regiment. The position is located at Fort Huachuca, Az with the US ARMY Aviation Center of Excellence.
Duties
Present formal instruction to support TRADOC approved Programs of Instruction (POI) through lecture, conference, demonstration, and practical
exercises.
Serve as a Training Instructor for civilian and military personnel for Army Unmanned Aircraft Systems (UAS).
Ensure that all training and operations forms and records are completed correctly and on time.
Serve as a Training Instructor in Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) required ground school aeronautical operations.
Serve as a Training Instructor for civilian and military personnel for Army Unmanned Aircraft Systems (UAS maintenance.
Prepare for and responsible for the development of instructional materials.
Administer authorized FAA examinations.
Develop course materials, lesson plans, exams, training devices, student handouts, etc.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- This position requires to obtain and maintain a Secret level security clearance.
- May require shift work and/or work on rotating shifts to provide coverage on evenings, weekends, holidays, and in other situations.
- Temporary Duty Travel (TDY)may be required up to 5% of the time.

This position may be filled as a TERM Appointment NTE 3 YEARS. TERM appointments may be extended beyond of six (6) years, up to eight (8) years. With DoD approval, TERM appointments may be extended beyond eight (8) years.

In order to qualify, you must meet the education and/or experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience includes: Developing and presenting unmanned aircraft instructional materials in areas that may include airspace management, air traffic control, aerodynamics, weather, airfield operations, aviation navigation, radio communications, aero medical factors, flight planning, Aeroscout Operations, or UAS Maintenance. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the second lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-09).
OR
Education: Ph.D or equivalent doctoral degree or 3 full years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to such a degree or LL.M. in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position, such as: Unmanned Aircraft Systems or applicable field(s) of study. Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) beyond the second year (total graduate semester hours minus 36) by 18. Add the two percentages.
