If so, then the National Nuclear Security Administration (NNSA), Office of Secure Transportation, Office of Mission Operations (OMO) Office of Technical Resources (OTS), Vehicle Services Branch (VSB) has a great opportunity for a General Engineer/Physical Scientist.

Duties

As a General Engineer/Physical Scientist you will: Provides leadership, direction, and program oversight of the design and construction activities for projects within Vehicles Systems Branch. Oversees and directs the design and construction of exceptionally difficult and complex mission critical projects to ensure that projects meet design requirements and are constructed in accordance with approved designs. These projects include next generation vehicles and trailers used to perform critical national security missions. Applies expert knowledge of engineering concepts and practices applicable to vehicle manufacturing, communication systems, and OST operational requirements. Resolves controversial, unprecedented, and/or significant issues with existing vehicles and trailers. Provides authoritative recommendations to address engineering concerns with vehicle and trailer platforms Acts as Senior Engineering Duty Advisor and on a rotating basis - provides support to Mission Operations which can occur uninterrupted 24/7

Qualifications

A qualified candidate's online application and resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower NNSA pay band level or GS grade level in the Federal Service, i.e., NN-03 or GS-13. Specialized experience for this position is defined as experience in the application of program management principles, practices and techniques associated with the design of new and emerging technology development, production, and lifecyle phases related to Capital Acquisition Managment under DOE O 413.3B or an equivalent program standard. Examples of Qualified Experience: Experience performing/developing: Program/Project Planning and Management of major acquisitions systems, drafting System Engineering Plans (SEP), Interface and requirements management, Work Breakdown Structure (WBS) Conceptual design for new and emerging technologies, systems engineering, control systems, emerging technology development, production, lifecycle phases, and develops program schedules/resource requirement. Establishes and tracks performance against technical milestones, recommends approval, disapproval, or modifications to project milestones, and assess technology readiness levels of Critical Technology Elements (CTEs). Engineering experience related to design and production to include new equipment/process startup for next generation vehicles and trailers Experience applicable to vehicle manufacturing, communication systems, and operational requirements Experience developing and implementing project execution strategy and planning, managing baseline changes through formal configuration management and change control processes while managing risks and opportunities. Education

0801/1301:

To qualify for the (0801) Engineering series, you must possess:

A degree in professional engineering. The curriculum must: 1) be in a school of engineering with at least one curriculum accredited by the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology as a professional engineering curriculum; or 2) include differential and integral calculus and courses (more advanced than first-year physics and chemistry) in five of the following seven areas of engineering science or physics: a) statics, dynamics; b) strength of materials (stress-strain relationships); c) fluid mechanics, hydraulics; d) thermodynamics; e) electrical fields and circuits; f) nature and properties of materials (relating particle and aggregate structure to properties); and g) any other comparable area of fundamental engineering science or physics, such as optics, heat transfer, soil mechanics, or electronics.

To qualify for the (1301) Physical Science series, you must possess:

A degree in physical science, engineering, or mathematics that included 24 semester hours in physical science and/or related engineering science such as mechanics, dynamics, properties of materials, and electronics.
