A successful candidate in this position will serve as a Supervisory General Engineer/Physical Scientist/the Deputy Director for the Office of Stockpile Modernization (NA-125).

Duties

As a Supervisory General Engineer/Physical Scientist you will: Perform the first line supervisory duties greater than 25 percent, managing subordinate employees as well as task assignments to all detailees. Define and integrate all technical requirements, including, but not limited to, safety, security, use control, delivery platform integration, reliability, quality, and SS-21 activities relating to the stockpile modernization programs. Be responsible for the delivery of accurate, timely congressional mandated reports including the Selected Acquisition Report (SAR). Manage major acquisition programs implementing established Defense Programs guidance and policies concerning cost, schedule, and scope. Lead special studies, evaluations, and briefings to assist in the decision-making process, and undertake other activities as assigned, such as preparation of status, progress, and special technical reports, prepares and presents management briefings, develops testimony and documentation for use by senior management in high level meetings. Attend and participate in Project Officer Meetings and help negotiate and administer stockpile-related memoranda of understanding or Interagency Agreements with the DoD (and other parties as appropriate) on the assigned weapon program.

Specialized Experience Statement: A qualified candidate's online application and resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower NNSA pay band or GS grade level in the Federal service i.e., EN-04, NN-04 or GS-15. Specialized experience for this position is defined as experience conducting at least 2 of the 4 following activities: 1. Applying advanced engineering or physical science principles, concepts, theories, and practices to implement and evaluate nuclear weapons modernization activities associated with development, production, and fielding of nuclear weapons systems, to include managing the system technical, cost, and risk baselines. 2. Providing coordination and oversight of nuclear weapons program management of the nuclear weapons stockpile to include generating strategic plans, establishing requirements, and managing long-range budgets. 3. Leading/supervising subordinate engineers, program managers, and analysts in the planning, execution, and delivery of nuclear weapon systems. 4. Coordinating nuclear weapon programs with the Department of Defense, including the Nuclear Weapons Council interagency process, and foreign governments. Degree: professional engineering. The curriculum must: (1) be in a school of engineering with at least one curriculum accredited by the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology as a professional engineering curriculum; or (2) include differential and integral calculus and courses (more advanced than first-year physics and chemistry) in five of the following seven areas of engineering science or physics: (a) statics, dynamics; (b) strength of materials (stress-strain relationships); (c) fluid mechanics, hydraulics; (d) thermodynamics; (e) electrical fields and circuits (f) nature and properties of materials (relating particle and aggregate structure to properties); and (g) any other comparable area of fundamental engineering science or physics, such as optics, heat transfer, soil mechanics, or electronics.

OR

Combination of education and experience: college-level education, training, and/or technical experience that furnished (1) a thorough knowledge of the physical and mathematical sciences underlying professional engineering, and (2) a good understanding, both theoretical and practical, of the engineering sciences and techniques and their applications to one of the branches of engineering. There are alternate methods to meeting the engineering educational requirement (e.g., holding current professional engineering registration, having passed the EIT examination, or having completed specified academic courses or a related degree). 1301- Degree: physical science, engineering, or mathematics that included 24 semester hours in physical science and/or related engineering science such as mechanics, dynamics, properties of materials, and electronics OR Combination of education and experience -- education equivalent to one of the majors shown in A above that included at least 24 semester hours in physical science and/or related engineering science, plus appropriate experience or additional education.
