Duties

As a SUPERVISORY CHIEF OF STAFF at the GS-0301-15 some of your typical work assignments may include: The incumbent serves as the Chief of Staff for the SI Strategic Integration Directorate (SI), exercising full authority to act on all issues pertaining to all SI offices throughout the Agency. The position is responsible for providing oversight, direction, strategic guidance to the Directorate staff and is charged with integrating the staff through the implementation of the Directorate's activities within the CWMD mission space and across the DOTMLPF (Doctrine, Organization, Training, Materiel, Leadership and Education, Personnel, and Facilities) spectrum. The incumbent manages all aspects of the Directorate's daily operations and the management and direction of the Directorate staff on behalf of the Director and Deputy Director of SI. Directs a staff responsible for resource management programs. Leads the development and implementation of goals and objectives to revitalize the workforce and improve business processes for SI and the entire Agency. Develops policies and procedures to enhance coordination and improve integration among subordinate Directorate departments/divisions/offices.

  • Telework Eligibility: This position is telework eligible on a situational basis with management approval.
  • This is a designated drug testing position. Pre-employment drug testing required; subject to periodic random Drug testing thereafter.
  • Must be able to obtain/maintain a valid passport.
  • Incumbent may be required, at the convenience of the government, to perform occasional temporary duty travel (20%), to include driving a vehicle, CONUS and OCONUS, by either government or commercial air transportation.
  • Must be able to obtain/maintain a Top Secret/SCI security clearance.

Qualifications

You may qualify at the GS-15, if you fulfill the following qualifications: One year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-14 grade level in the Federal service: Supervising subordinate staff on a daily basis to complete long and short term tasks; Interacting frequently with GO/FO/SES level personnel to formally and informally update, brief, or receive guidance; Managing and coordinating with multiple organizations with vastly different missions to accomplish tasks on time; Coordinating with lateral and higher staff elements; Working knowledge of electronic tasking systems, DAI, and DTS, and; Experience assuming responsibilities of senior level supervisors. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

Education

Substitution of education may not be used in lieu of specialized experience for this grade level.
