This position is located in the Department of Health & Human Services (HHS), Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS), Office of Security, Facilities and Logistics Operations (OSFLO)
As a Security Specialist, GS-0080-13, you will be performing a wide variety of duties relating to the integration and compliance with multiple Federal and Departmental policies and regulations.
Duties
Manages the day-to-day operations of personnel security responsibilities and credentialing tasks in accordance with and ensuring compliance with federal regulations.
Provides analysis of existing background investigation and credentialing processes, policies, and countermeasures, as needed.
Assists in the development and implementation of long- and short-range goals and objectives to ensure CMS compliance.
Develops and implements plans to improve operations and adjusts to changing requirements and priorities.
Provides authoritative advice and guidance to management and staff on complex and sensitive issues related to the credentialing office, the personnel security investigative, and adjudicative processes.
Requirements

- The incumbent is required to obtain and maintain a Level III COR Certification.

In order to qualify for the GS-13, you must meet the following: You must demonstrate in your resume at least one year (52 weeks) of qualifying specialized experience equivalent to the GS-12 grade level in the Federal government, obtained in either the private or public sector, to include:
1. Utilizing and adhering to standards, directives, and requirements for credentialing and security background investigation processing.
2. Managing the daily operations of a credentialing office and the functions in the credentialing lifecycle.
3. Analyzing policies or guidelines to ensure the goals of the credentialing program are met; AND
4. Forecasting budget funding for contracts and expenditures for a program.
Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
