About the Position: This Protocol Officer position is located at 1st Armored Division Protocol Office with duty location of Ft. Bliss, TX.
Duties
Serves as Protocol Director and advisor to the Commanding General 1st Armored Division (1AD) and Fort Bliss.
Serves as advisor/consultant for briefings, conferences, ceremonies, and social functions involving General Officers of the United States (US), Foreign Nation's (FN) Military, and other high-ranking officials of the US government and FN Governments.
Manages the Command's protocol program, which encompasses program development, planning, and evaluation.
Coordinates with field protocol officers, Department of Army, Department of Defense, other federal agencies and foreign embassies, the State Department, and the Office of Congressional Liaison.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance through the duration of your employment.
- A one-year supervisory probation to assess your ability to perform supervisory duties is required unless previously completed.
- This position requires the employee to occasionally travel away from the normal duty station up to 20% of the time on an annual basis.
- Incumbent must possess and be able to maintain a valid stateside driver’s license.
- Incumbent will be required to work nights, weekends, holidays and/or irregular duty hours commensurate with mission requirements.

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes coordinating with higher level commands/agency staff to facilitate and support itinerary development; planning protocol events (ceremonies and social events) involving senior military officials and foreign visitors; and managing protocol funds and budget in accordance with legal regulations/authorizations. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-12).
