About the Position: This position is with the Joint Munitions Command located at Blue Grass Army Depot. This position serves as an Explosive Operator (FLO), destroying various types of explosives and ammunitions.
Duties
Ensures the destruction of ammunition and components through detonation.
Operates a wide variety of reclamation systems to remove explosive filled munitions.
Organizes material for burning by either grouping material into the correct category.
Operates forklift trucks in order to transports ammunitions to the correct stations.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- Incumbent must be physically able to be fitted with a respirator and must wear respirator as required.
- This is a test designated position under the DA Drug-Free Federal Workplace Program.
- This position is covered by the Lautenberg Amendment to The Gun Control Act of 1968.
- This position requires lifting up to 100 pounds .
- This position requires a pre-employment physical and annual physical thereafter.
- This position requires possession of a valid, State-issued motor vehicle driver license. (You must upload a copy in order to be considered for this position)

Minimum Qualifications (Screen Out Element): Ability to do the work of an Explosives Operator (FLO) without more than normal supervision. ???????The ability to perform common duties of destroying various types of Arms, Ammunition and Explosives (AA&E) in accordance with written procedures; receiving and inspecting Arms, Ammunition and Explosives (AA&E); and operating a forklift to transport munitions. The ability to work under close supervision of a work leader or journey-level employee who observes tasks in progress and upon completion to make sure they are properly performed. Failure to meet this Screen Out Element will result in an ineligible rating.

PHYSICAL EFFORT: Employee is frequently required to lift and carry objects weighing 45 pounds and over. Occasionally requires lifting objects up to 100 pounds. The work normally requires extensive standing, walking, repeated bending, kneeling, and the use of both hands. Most heavy lifting is accomplished by use of mechanical equipment. The work pace is moderate.
WORKING CONDITIONS: Work is performed inside and outside. Buildings have some heat, but incumbent is exposed to weather extremes when working outside. There is exposure to dirt, dust, grease, mud, rain, toxic agents, fumes and noise from machines, power conveyors and exploding munitions. Incumbent is exposed to possibility of flash fires and explosions, which could cause serious injury, dismemberment or loss of life. There is also possibility of burns, mashed fingers, broken extremities, bruises, sprains and other serious accidents. Wears such safety equipment as shoes, glasses, radioactivity detection badges, goggles, face shield, flameproof coveralls, rubber aprons and respirator as necessary.
Education
