This position is located in the U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ), Office of Justice Programs (OJP), Office of the Chief Financial Officer (OCFO), Budget Formulation and Appropriations Division (BFAD).
Duties
Assisting in the development of written analyses and budget justifications for national programs and their administrative functions.
Supporting the review of reports and data to help formulate justifications for the consolidated budget, focusing on immediate program requirements.
Aiding in the coordination and presentation of annual budgets for administrative operating programs.
Assisting in preparing basic presentations about budget and responding to inquiries from internal stakeholders.
Attending congressional hearings to take notes and assist in drafting informal notifications.
Supporting the development of reports and policy papers that outline recommendations for enhancing funding and budget forecasting processes.
Assisting in maintaining communication through verbal and written interactions to support basic budget formulation and appropriations efforts.

Qualifications
PATHWAYS RECENT GRADUATE PROGRAM ELIGIBILITY - You must meet one of the following requirements:
1) Be a recent graduate who has completed, within the previous two years, an associates, bachelors, masters, professional, doctorate, vocational or technical degree or certificate from a qualifying educational institution,
OR
2) Be a Veteran who, due to their military service obligation, was precluded from applying within two (2) years after degree completion and is applying within six (6) years after completion.
Specialized Experience:
GS-07:
A. Experience: Applicants must have one (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-05 level. Specialized experience is experience which is in or related to the line of work of the position to be filled and which has equipped the applicant with the specific knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the duties of the position.
Examples of specialized experience include:
Assisting in the development and analysis of routine written materials relative to budgets and program summaries.
Collecting and compiling information from a variety of sources to prepare presentations with budget-related content for managers and decisionmakers.
Conducting research and analysis to help identify issues and recommending basic funding solutions.
B. Education: Applicants may substitute education for the required experience. To qualify based on education for this grade level you must have one (1) full year of graduate-level education. Graduate-level education must demonstrate the competencies necessary to do the work of the position, OR A bachelor's degree with Superior Academic Achievement (SAA). The education must be related to the field of the position for which training on the job will be provided. SAA applies to persons who have completed all the requirements for a bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university as evidenced by one of three methods described below within a curriculum that is qualifying for the position to be filled:
Class standing -- Applicants must be in the upper third of the graduating class in the college, university, or major subdivision, such as the College of Liberal Arts or the School of Business Administration, based on completed courses; or
Grade-point average (G.P.A.) -- Applicants must have a grade-point average of: a) 3.0 or higher out of a possible 4.0 ("B" or better) as recorded on their official transcript, or as computed based on 4 years of education, or as computed based on courses completed during the final 2 years of the curriculum; or b) 3.5 or higher out of a possible 4.0 ("B+" or better) based on the average of the required courses completed in the major field or the required courses in the major field completed during the final 2 years of the curriculum. Grade-point averages are to be rounded to one decimal place. For example, 2.95 will round to 3.0 and 2.94 will round to 2.9; or
Honor Society Membership -- which may be considered eligible based on membership in one of the approved national scholastic honor societies listed by the Association of College Honor Societies (https://www.achsnatl.org/).

C. Combining Education & Experience: Applicants may substitute a combination of education and experience for the required experience. Combination of specialized experience as described in "A" and education as described in "B" which totals at least one year.
GS-09:
A. Experience: Applicants must have one (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-07 level. Specialized experience is experience which is in or related to the line of work of the position to be filled and which has equipped the applicant with the specific knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the duties of the position.
Examples of specialized experience include:
Assisting in the development and analysis of complex written materials, such as budget justifications and program summaries, for diverse audiences.
Combining information from a variety of sources, including qualitative and quantitative data, to prepare presentations with budget-related content for stakeholders and managers.
Conducting research and analysis to help identify potential program funding issues and recommending innovative solutions.
B. Education: Applicants may substitute education for the required experience. To qualify based on education for this grade level you must have a master's OR equivalent graduate degree (including LL.B. or J.D. if related) OR have completed two full years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to such a degree and which demonstrates the competencies necessary to do the work.
C. Combining Education & Experience: Applicants may substitute a combination of education and experience for the required experience. Combination of specialized experience as described in "A" and graduate education as described in "B" which totals at least one year.
