You will serve as a Government Information Specialist in the Command's Freedom of Information and Privacy Act Division of NAVAL SEA SYSTEMS COMMAND.

Duties

You will be responsible for planning, managing and coordinating of NAVSEA's Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) and Privacy Act (PA) programs for the Command. You will review different types of record requests under the Freedom of Information Act (FOIA). You will develop and maintain administrative tools posted on the Privacy Act Online website. You will log requests into the automated data base, receive and post payments, and maintain an official record of actions. You will process and coordinate FOIA/PA requests and responses. You will retrieve, review and redact records requested under FOIA to ensure correct and uniform application of exemptions and pertinent access statutes/regulations are applied. You will provide advice and assistance to shore activity and headquarters staff on FOIA, PA or other access matters that may arise. You will contribute in the development of policy to protect the necessary interest or allows for maximum privileges under the Acts.

Requirements

  • You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
  • This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.

Qualifications

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the NH-02 (GS-11 equivalency) grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: Reviewing and advising on Freedom Of Information Act (FOIA) and Privacy Act (PA) requests to ensure compliance with established laws and regulations for proper release and protection of sensitive information.
