About the Position: This position serves as a technical expert on explosives safety matters pertaining to the receipt, storage, issue, transportation, maintenance, demilitarization and material handling operations of conventional, guided missile, and toxic chemical ammunition.
Duties
Assess explosives and chemical items for regulatory compliance and its impact on Army policy and programs.
Analyze events, conditions, and behaviors to develop hazard control methods, procedures, and programs.
Develop and present specialized explosives safety training.
Analyze working conditions and develop ways to improve them for reducing risk exposure.
Develop explosives safety site and construction plans and deviations for ammunition and chemical facilities.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- This position requires you to obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Secret security clearance or access for the duration of employment. A background investigation and credit check are required.
- One- year probationary period may be required.
- This position requires a pre-placement medical and annual medical surveillance exam in accordance with Occupational Health requirements.
- This position requires that the employee occasionally travel away from the normal duty station up to 35% of the time.

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes resolving technical matters dealing with explosives and ordnance safety requirements; developing and recommending explosives safety policy and plans; inspecting or evaluating workplaces, processes, or products for compliance with established explosives safety policies and standards; and identifying potential new explosives safety hazards and threats. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade level position in the federal service (GS-11).
