The primary purpose of this position is: To serve as Cyber Security expert to provide Defensive Cyber Operational effects, Information Assurance (IA), and Mission Assurance (MA) .
Duties
Serves as a team member on technical teams conducting cyber, computer, and network vulnerability assessments of automated information systems associated with command and control and weapon systems
Serves as a team member on technical teams providing technical support in the performance of security investigations, integration, testing, and evaluations of complex network and telecommunications equipment or software
Serves as a technical advisor to management in key web-based mission areas.
Serves as a team member on technical teams to prepare system documentation in accordance with DoD, Air Force, AFSPC, 16 AF, and local standards.

This is a GG-12 position in the Defense Civilian Intelligence Personnel System (DCIPS). The GG-12 duties for the "Professional" work category are at the "Full Performance" work level and are equivalent to those at the GS-12 level. The selectee's salary will be set within the grade equivalent to a GS/GG grade based on the selectee's qualifications in relation to the job.
SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Your resume must reflect the quality level of experience which demonstrates the possession of the knowledge, skills, abilities, and competencies necessary for successful job performance required for this position. Examples of creditable experience include: Knowledge of and skill in IA and MA and threat hunting technologies and techniques, analysis of computer systems, operating systems, network communication protocols, computer and network architectures and virtual machine (VM) technology; ability to analyze and correlate data in order to distinguish evidence of attacks or intrusions from normal activity; knowledge of IA and MA technologies such as COMSEC, COMPUSEC, EMSEC, and OPSEC, computer systems, digital communications systems, network protocols, and computer architectures; and computer security penetration tools and techniques; and knowledge and skill in one or more of the following areas: (a) computer operating systems (Unix, Windows, etc.) enterprise services, file systems, security, configuration and analysis; (2) network operations and security including network data flows, protocols, PCAP, etc.; (3) computer programming and scripting; (4) malware identification and analysis; (5) system forensics. Note: Creditable experience may include previous military experience, experience gained in the private sector, or experience gained in another government agency.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSAs): Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the following areas:
Knowledge of information systems and networking concepts, patterns, and capabilities sufficient to evaluate new and emerging cyber security methods, principles, and impact. Apply knowledge to determine potential system feasibility and possible security implications of proposed new systems, applications, or software. Guide the design, testing, and maintenance of both cloud and on-premise infrastructure and application software while ensuring successful integration with existing systems and services
Knowledge of cyber security best practices, site reliability engineering principles, and mission assurance technologies and practices with a focus on cloud computing, virtualization, and high reliability on-premise systems
Knowledge of networking architectures, patterns, interrelationships, configurations, and protocols
Skill and experience in applying analytical and evaluative techniques to identify/investigate/resolve issues associated with contract support as well as modifying standards, tactics, techniques, and procedures.
Ability to apply methods and practices for troubleshooting, recovering, modifying, and improving systems to solve complex problems, provide support that minimizes interruptions in service to customers, while maintaining awareness of emerging technology.
Ability to guide development of software as part of a team in an agile development environment; performs application manager functions for commercial and government-produced software applications.
