The duty station of these positions will be assigned at the time of a job offer and pay will be set in accordance with the duty station. Any on-site requirements will be determined by the duty station assigned upon selection.
Duties
Reviews voucher documentation to ensure adequacy and accuracy prior to release to higher level staff for final review and release to auditor/requestor.
Identify, research, and resolve invalid tax identification numbers and mismatches with taxpayer’s legal name (as registered with IRS).
Technician works to resolve any discrepancies arising and/or makes recommendations on immediate fixes.
Performs periodic tests of retrievals for documentation to measure success and audit readiness prior to an auditors request for information.
Coordinate changes with DFAS Accounts Payable (vendor pay) Offices or DFAS Clients to improve DFAS accuracy and reduce rework Technician identifies necessary revisions to functional area standard operating procedures and additional desktop guides.

- Time after Competitive Appointment: Candidates must have served 3 months after latest competitive appointment in the Federal service.

Qualifications
One year of specialized experience equivalent in level of difficulty and responsibility to that of the next lower grade (GS-05) within the federal service, which demonstrates the ability to perform the duties of the position, is required.
Specialized experience is defined as applying knowledge of accounting systems, policies, and procedures for the examination, verification, and maintenance of accounts and accounting data; validating, monitoring, and ensuring the adequacy and accuracy of accounting records; researching discrepancies and making adjustments.
Time-in-Grade: Current or former federal employees who have held a GS position in the preceding 52 weeks, must meet the time in grade requirement. Applicant must have served 52 weeks as a GS-05 or higher grade in Federal Service.
Education
GS-06 Substitution of Education for Experience: Six months of graduate education may be substituted to meet the specialized experience required when it is directly related to the work of the position being filled.
