You will serve as a RISK MANAGER in the Operations Department (Code 300), Operations Planning Manager (Code 300.1) of NORFOLK NAVAL SHIPYARD.

Duties

You will develop, implement, and modify a Risk Strategy for each assigned maintenance availability to include the details associated with the methods and data sources to be used in the risk management process. You will coordinate, direct, and provide Risk Management training as required to improve process knowledge, communication, awareness, ownership and management of risks. You will maintain the risk management database and develop and submit risk management reports to support project, organizational, and customer meeting and communications. You will work with risk leads, track the accomplishment of assigned mitigation actions and support risk leads and other project team members in assessing the actual risk of impact of those actions. You will maintain a working relationship with other project Risk Managers and share process-related learning points as well as specific risk-related information to improve overall shipyard maintenance/production effectiveness and efficiency.

  • You will be required to successfully complete a pre-appointment physical examination.
  • You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
  • This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.

Qualifications

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-07 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: Experience providing risk management subject matter expertise to assigned ship and submarine platforms undergoing complex overhaul, repair and conversion maintenance. Experience with knowledge of ship and submarine nuclear and nonnuclear work, processes, and procedures to conduct quick risk assessments of discussed work. Experience with quantitative analysis and the evaluative methods and techniques for assessing risk, risk management processes, reporting, and metrics collection. Experience analyzing, planning, and adjusting work operations of one or more organizational segments to meet program requirements and objectives within available resources. Education

In lieu of specialized experience, you may qualify with the following education or combination of both education and experience:

master's or equivalent graduate degree

or

2 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree

or

LL.B. or J.D., if related
