You will serve as a SUPERVISORY PRODUCTION SUPERINTENDENT in the Pipe Shop (Code 960) Production Resources Department Manager (Code 901), Production Resources Department (Code 900 of NORFOLK NAVAL SHIPYARD.

Duties

You will manage an organization of approximately 650 employees in various trades. You will analyze, evaluate, and adjust shop manpower resources, work operations, equipment, and facilities against current and future scheduled work requirements. You will ensure that an adequately trained workforce is available to execute both the shipyard -planned workload and surge allowance. You will prepare and submit proposed budgets for future fiscal yare demands based on projected workload. You will carry out EEO policies and communicate support of these policies to subordinates.

• Work is performed in areas where potentially harmful physical and chemical agents are present (e.g. fumes, dust, heat, ionizing and non-ionizing radiation and chemicals). You will be required to participate in medical surveillance programs.
• This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
• You will be required to complete ethics orientation within three months of appointment and submit a Confidential Financial Disclosure Report, OGE-450, within 30 days of appointment.

Qualifications

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-13 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: - Experience utilizing knowledge of total shipyard work operations, trades and shop practices to maintain accountability for the effective and efficient management of the shop's personnel, facilities, equipment, and resources; - Experience demonstrating knowledge of all phases of nuclear and non-nuclear surface or submarine ship re-pair and overhaul; - Experience managing various levels of shop supervisors and trades people; - Experience analyzing, evaluating, and adjusting shop manpower resources, work operations, equipment, and facilities against current and future scheduled work requirements; - Experience identifying the need for changes to processes or procedures, new, additional and modified processes, equipment or facilities.
