About the Position: This position is located at the Soldier Support Institute (SSI), Fort Knox, Kentucky. Fort Knox is a United States Army installation in Kentucky, south of Louisville and north of Elizabethtown.
Duties
Responsible for developing and/or assisting in and reviewing the development of Distributive Learning (DL) course and instructional materials offered by the US Army Recruiting and Retention College (RRC).
Serves as a training specialist by researching, developing, writing, revising, reviewing and/or advising on various Distributive Learning (DL) content of all course materials for recruiting and retention training courses.
Reviews other course materials including non-resident instruction, self-pace materials and other Distributive Learning (DL) training materials as required to support the mission (e.g., Soldiers manuals, commander’s manuals, etc.).
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- This position requires the incumbent be able to obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Secret security clearance or access for the duration of employment.
- Position may be filled as a term appointment NTE 5 years. Term appointments may be extended beyond six (6) years, up to eight (8) years. With DoD approval, term appointments may be extended beyond eight (8) years.
- Current permanent Federal employees (to include permanent Army employees) applying for a term appointment will be appointed/converted into a term appointment with no statutory return rights back to a permanent position.
- Term employment is subject to one-year trial period. Employees serving a trial period can be removed with limited appeal rights.
- Position may be made permanent without further competition.
- This position has a Temporary Duty (TDY) or business travel requirement of up to 20% of the time.

In order to qualify, you must meet the education and/or experience requirements described below. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes: 1) teaching or instructing in an adult education program or military installation; 2) performing the full scope of personnel administration activities; 3) providing advice and assistance in determining quality levels of training within the organization; AND 4) conducting research and identifying developments in training materials and other systems that support training requirements. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the second lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-09).

Education: PhD or equivalent doctoral degree or 3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree with a major study in education or a subject area related to the position to be filled, such as, Education.
OR
Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) beyond the second year (total graduate semester hours minus 36) by 18. Add the two percentages.
