You will serve as a COMPUTER SCIENTIST in the Software Engineering Branch, Systems Integration Division, Engineering Department of the Naval Oceanographic Office (NAVOCEANO) at the Stennis Space Center, Mississippi.
Duties
You will be responsible for managing the software activities of a project team.
You will be responsible for serving as a Technical Point of Contract (TPOC) for software contract(s).
You will be responsible for serving as a software engineer for the Software Engineering Branch.
You will be responsible for working with organizational points of contact for budget, contracts, program management, portfolio and configuration management, development, test and operational environment administration.
You will be responsible for preparing and maintaining software engineering documentation such as software requirement specifications, software design documents, and interface design documents.

- You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
- This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
Qualifications
In addition to the Basic Requirements for this position, your resume must also demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-11 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following:
Experience utilizing software engineering practices and developing, integrating, troubleshooting, and deploying software on Linux Operating system (RHEL).
Experience utilizing Shipborne network systems (such as TAGS) and data collections systems (such as sonars, CTD, XBT).
Experience applying software design including Object Oriented Design and Service Oriented Architecture (SOA) and experience writing software using C++.
Experience collaborating on software projects using a software configuration management system or version control system such as PVCS, Subversion, or GIT and knowledge of web-application tools and scripting languages (HTML, CSS3, etc.).
Experience using Unix/Linux scripting languages such as Bash, Borne, or C-shell. Knowledge of Linux system administration and ability to operate in a Linux command line mode. Knowledge of shipboard Information Technology and integrated systems.
Experience evaluating and implementing cybersecurity guidelines and Security Technical Implementation Guides.
Experience analyzing and resolving operational issues related to software and systems and knowledge or experience with shipboard survey operations.
Experience working with IT personnel to resolve issues related to design, implementation and operations and knowledge or experience with IT customer service and software project management and collaborating with multi-disciplinary personnel.

Basic Requirements:
Bachelor's degree in computer science or bachelor's degree with 30 semester hours in a combination of mathematics, statistics, and computer science. At least 15 of the 30 semester hours must have included any combination of statistics and mathematics that included differential and integral calculus. All academic degrees and course work must be from accredited or pre-accredited institutions.
