Located in the Bureau of Economic and Business Affairs (EB), Bureau of Energy Resources (ENR), Office of Global Partnerships (E/GP), Office of Global Food Security (E/GFS), and the Subnational Diplomacy Unit (E/SDU), Executive Office (EX), which is responsible for the administration and security of their information systems. Serves as an Information Technology Specialist responsible for ensuring that the appropriate operational security posture is maintained for information systems.
Duties
Carries out efforts to increase security situational awareness of, and minimize risks to, information systems through a comprehensive vulnerability alert, assessment, remediation and reporting process.
Serves as the primary ISSO for the External Network Extension for the United States Trade and Development Agency ensuring that security requirements for major applications or support systems meet Department of State (DOS) policy and procedures.
Ensures adherence to DOS security policy and procedures and implements processes that provide oversight for systems owners.
Manages the security aspects of information systems and is assigned responsibility for the day-to-day security operations of systems in the assigned office.

Qualifications
Applicants must meet all the qualification requirements described below by the closing date of this announcement.
Applicants applying for the GS-12 grade level must meet the following requirements: Have IT-related experience demonstrating EACH of the four competencies AND specialized experience listed below:
Attention to Detail- Demonstrates expert level of attention to detail in conducting security risk and vulnerability assessments of planned and installed systems to identify security issues and vulnerabilities.
Customer Service - Demonstrates expert skill in working with managers and customers at all levels throughout the Bureau and Department to resolve IT security issues.
Oral Communication - Provides expert technical advice, guidance, and recommendations to management and other technical specialists on critical IT issues.
Problem Solving - Demonstrates expert knowledge of IT security requirements and standards to review and resolve complex IT security risks and vulnerabilities.
AND Have at least 1 full year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-11 level in the Federal service which provided you with the particular knowledge, skills and abilities to perform the duties of the position. Qualifying specialized experience must demonstrate the following:
Experience developing and interpreting policies, procedures, and strategies governing the planning and delivery of services throughout an agency.
Experience preparing and presenting briefings to senior management officials on complex /controversial issues.
NOTE: In order to qualify for this position, your experience MUST be IT related; the experience may be demonstrated by paid or unpaid experience and/or completion of specific, intensive training (for example, IT certification), as appropriate. There is no substitute of education for specialized experience for the GS-12 position.
