This position will be assigned to the JBSA Randolph Bowling Center.
This is a flexible category position with no guaranteed hours, may work up to 40 hours per week. Scheduled as needed. Employees appointed to a flexible (intermittent) category position are not eligible for benefits.
Must be physically able to frequently lift objects weighing up to 40 pounds. Must be able to continuously stand, walk, stoop, reach, pull and bend for long periods of time.
Duties
Performs a full range of simple cooking tasks by preparing and cooking items that require little or no processing such as pancakes,
sausage, eggs, hamburgers and fresh or canned vegetables. Prepares hot cereals, broiled meats; prepares and cooks concentrated or dehydrated soups, sauces, and gravies; makes cold sandwich fillings. Prepares convenience items such as frozen hash browns, fish fillets and chicken nuggets. Some cooks at this level prepare and bake pizza. Prepares food by peeling, chopping, grinding, paring, cutting, slicing, dicing, pureeing, dredging, flouring or breading; weighs, measures and assembles ingredients for regular menu items; sets up and replenishes salad bar; portions foods for distribution and meal service, and covers, dates and stores leftovers according to established procedures. Washes and cleans kitchen equipment. Mix ingredients according to written recipes that produce quality products, minimize preparation time, and avoid food material waste. Performs other related duties as assigned.

Requirements
- This position requires the incumbent to complete a background investigation with favorable results.
- This position requires the incumbent to obtain a Food/Handler's Certificate and/or complete food handler's training.
- This position requires shift work to provide coverage on evenings, weekends, holidays, or special situations. Are you willing and able to work an assigned shift to meet work requirements?
- To be considered for this position, the applicant must be a U.S. Citizen or a Legal U.S. Resident for a minimum of 3 years and must reside in/around the area as noted in the Job Opportunity Announcement.
- This position has physical lifting requirement which requires the incumbent to complete a favorable pre-employment physical. Must be able to lift 40lbs.

Qualifying Experience: Must have experience in and knowledge of methods and procedures relating to food preparation and presentation gained in a grill, snack bar, restaurant, club or similar food activity.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities (KSA's): Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the following areas:
1. Ability to follow oral and written instructions, work safely, and do simple arithmetic.
2. Knowledge of operating and cleaning food service equipment and characteristics of various foods.
3. Ability to season food and decide when foods are done is required.
4. Knowledge of the methods and procedures relating to food presentation.
