This vacancy is for a GS-2010-9, Inventory Management Specialist located in the Department of Homeland Security, U.S. Coast Guard, SFLC WMEC SUPPLY BRANCH -SFLC-MEC-SUPP. Duty location will be determined upon selection.
Duties
You will serve as an Inventory Management Specialist and be responsible for performing inventory management work requiring application of system-wide knowledge of supply programs and operations.
Qualifications
Basic Requirements: All qualification requirements must be met by the closing date of the announcement. This includes Time-In-Grade requirements for current status employees applying through merit promotion procedures.Status applicants applying for a promotion to the grade of GS-9 must have 52 weeks of service at the next lower grade of GS-7.
To qualify at the GS-09 grade level, applicants must have at least one (1) full year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-07 grade level in the federal sector. Specialized experience is experience that has equipped you with the particular ability, skill, and knowledge to successfully perform the duties of this position and is typically in or related to this line of work.
Specialized experience must include the following:
Experience managing inventory items for a program, and initiating and monitoring the procurement of supply support-related items.
Experience identifying the need for changes in expenditures and stocking levels based on order and usage records.
Experience analyzing operational reports and plans, work schedules, and other data.
Experience coordinating supply support for a program in such related areas as Provisioning, Cataloging, Inventory Management, Procurement, and Accounting.
Knowledge of solutions for inventory supply problems for material support-related actions.
OR successful completion of master's or equivalent graduate degree;
OR 2 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree;
OR LL.B. or J.D., if related.
Equivalent combinations of education and experience are qualifying for all grade levels for which both education and experience are acceptable.
Specialized experience is experience that has equipped you with the particular ability, skill, and knowledge to successfully perform the duties of this position and is typically in or related to this line of work.

Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
The Office of Personnel management (OPM) must authorize employment offers made to current or former political appointees.
