This position is located in the Department of Homeland Security, US Coast Guard, Surface Forces Logistics Center, IBCT Product Line, Baltimore, MD.
Duties
The incumbent determines requirements, positioning/repositioning items, initiating procurements, etc. as well as providing life cycle support for assigned equipment. At the full promotion potential (GS12) the incumbent will be a senior inventory manager which entails possibly assisting or training lower-level employees.

Qualifications
QUALIFY FOR GS-11: Applicants must possess at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-09 level in the Federal service. Specialized experience is experience that has equipped you with the particular ability, skill, and knowledge to successfully perform the duties of this position and is typically in or related to this line of work. Examples of specialized experience for this position is defined as:
-Experience performing supply data management including supply planning, acquisition, storage, issue, utilization, and disposal of equipment and material.
-Knowledge of specialized methods and techniques used to analyze and evaluate the effectiveness and efficiency of supply programs and/or operations.
-Knowledge of the relations of procurement and budget considerations; automated systems and files; provisioning; transportation; storage; cataloging; maintenance; repair and disposal in order to perform material management processes.
Candidates may also qualify at the GS-11 level based on the following education requirements:
Ph.D or equivalent doctoral degree,
OR 3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree or LL.M, if in a related field such as supply, logistics, or material management.

Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.The Office of Personnel management (OPM) must authorize employment offers made to current or former political appointees.
