This position is located in the Department of Homeland Security, United States Coast Guard, Surface Forces Logistics Center, WMEC Product Line located in Baltimore, Maryland.  

Duties

The incumbent performs inventory management work requiring application of system-wide knowledge of supply programs and operations.Being a Coast Guard civilian makes you a valuable member of the Coast Guard team.  Typical work assignments include:- Maintaining stock levels of Coast Guard peculiar items to achieve effective service wide supply support and efficient utilization of appropriated funds.- Establishing and procuring new items in the supply system when required. - Projecting stock/store/issue/repair quantities required on both a short-term and long-term basis using a variety of techniques and other considerations.-Developing procurement plans which consider various procurement factors, including total repair/procurement lead times which may vary from one procurement to the next.-Studying, analyzing, reviewing, managing, repairing or procuring items by using various computer generated reports and other factors.-Initiating disposal action for peculiar material when the equipment has reached its support expiration date.

Qualifications

Specialized experience is experience that has equipped you with the particular ability, skill, and knowledge to successfully perform the duties of this position and is typically in or related to this line of work. To Qualify for GS-9: Applicants must have at least one full year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-7 level in the Federal service. Examples of specialized experience include:  -Experience managing inventory items for a program, and initiating and monitoring the procurement of supply support-related items.  -Experience identifying the need for changes in expenditures and stocking levels based on order and usage records.  -Experience analyzing operational reports and plans, work schedules, and other data.  -Experience coordinating supply support for a program in such related areas as Provisioning, Cataloging, Inventory Management, Procurement, and Accounting.  -Knowledge of solutions for inventory supply problems for material support-related actions. OR successful completion of master's or equivalent graduate degree;OR 2 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree;OR LL.B. or J.D., if related.Equivalent combinations of education and experience are qualifying for all grade levels for which both education and experience are acceptable.National Service Experience (i.e., volunteer experience): Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
