Serves as the Administrative Specialist in the Headquarters (HQ), Defense Commissary Agency (DeCA), Chief of Staff (CoS) Office and serves as an executive/administrative assistant to the CoS and others as designated by the CoS. This position primary purpose is to perform the full range of complex administrative duties required in support of the CoS. Coordinating the CoS activities in such a diversified organization imposes a significant administrative responsibility on the incumbent.
Duties
Maintains close and direct working relationships with the Command Group, subordinate operations activities, and field staff.
Performs the full range of difficult and responsible technical and administrative duties required in support of an Executive Director or COS (Chief of Staff).
Maintains and controls daily calendars for the Chief of Staff.
Maintains suspense records on correspondence and action documents, and follows up on work-in-progress.
Prepare written responses, and review sensitive and technically comprehensive correspondence composed for signature
by the Director, Deputy Director, SEA, and CoS.

Qualifications
You must meet the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) qualifications for series 0301 and additional requirements by the announcement closing date. Your resume (and/or transcript if necessary) must clearly show that you have the qualifications described below. You can use experience, education, superior academic achievement, or a combination of experience and education to qualify. When using education to meet qualifications you must submit transcripts. To qualify for the GS-9 position your resume and supporting documents must show that you possess one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-7 grade level or equivalent to at least GS-7 under other Federal service pay systems, private sector, or military. OR A Master's or equivalent graduate degree or two full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree with major study in business administration, public administration, agricultural economics (food industry management), or other fields related to the position OR A combination of experience and education that equals 100% of the qualification requirements.
Examples of qualifying Specialized experience for GS-9:
Processes time and attendance information, certifying the accuracy of data using the automated system
Reviews the Unit Manning Document, makes appropriate notes, and returns back to Resource Management to update the master file.
Serves as the Government Purchase Card (GPC) holder for the Command Group.
Schedules appointments, accepts or declines invitations, and arranges for substitute representation without prior approval based on personal knowledge of workload, current issues, and unwritten policies and practices.
You will receive credit for all relevant qualifying experience (paid and unpaid), including volunteer work done through National Service program (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social).
Additional Requirements that must be met by the closing date:
Physical requirements: The work is primarily sedentary. Some assignments may require walking, standing, and bending. Frequently carries light items such as records, files, or other papers. The work does not require any special physical effort or demands.
Time-in-grade applies to the promotion of current and former federal employees who hold or have held a permanent GS position in either the competitive or excepted service in the previous 52 weeks, including current employees applying under VEOA. For GS-9: You must have 52 weeks of Federal service at or equivalent to GS-7.
Time after competitive appointment. Current federal civilian employees must have completed at least 90 days of federal civilian service since being selected for a non temporary appointment from a competitive examination register of eligibles (an announcement opened to the public) or under a direct hire authority.
