About the Position: Incumbent will serve as Army Community Service (ACS) Multi-Functional Specialist at the installation level with professional and technical responsibility for assisting Commanders with assessing, tailoring and prioritizing ACS service delivery in support of local military and Family needs.

Duties

Implements various service delivery models designed to assist service members in fulfilling their responsibility to prepare their Families for their mission-related absences. Provides ACS services designed to maximize Soldier, Retiree, Family, Survivor and Civilian adaptability, promote self-reliance, and Readiness. Provides individual and Family consultation services, education, referrals and follow-up. Gathers data, compiles statistics and reports information to the ACS Director for use at installation, IMCOM Directorates (ID), Headquarters staff and/or DoD levels. Develops referral policies and procedures between the ACS, installation and community agencies. Prepares memorandums of understanding to formalize agreements and roles. Utilizes computer and web-based resources to identify ACS resources and to develop source lists and reference materials. Consults with on and off site community leadership officials on Soldier and Family Readiness services and related issues. Establishes and maintain ongoing relationships with corporate, industry and small business personnel; inter-Service, local, state, national and/or international agencies; financial institutions and universities.

  • This position requires the incumbent be able to obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Secret security clearance or access for the duration of employment.

Basic Requirement: Degree: Bachelor's degree (or higher degree) in behavioral or social science, or related disciplines appropriate to the position, such as Psychology, Sociology, Behavioral Health, or Social Work. OR Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience that provided the applicant with knowledge of one or more of the behavioral or social sciences equivalent to a major in the field. OR Experience: Four years of appropriate experience that demonstrated that the applicant has acquired knowledge of one or more of the behavioral or social sciences equivalent to a major in the field. In addition to meeting the Basic Requirement above, you must also meet the qualification requirements listed below: Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes 1) Assisting Commanders with producing ACS service delivery in support of local military and Family needs. 2) Providing a variety of ACS services and transition service. 3) Preparing memorandums of understanding to formalize agreements and roles. 4) Maintaining relationships organizations to enhance and deliver comprehensive services. OR Education: Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree or 3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position, such as: Social Work, Sociology, Psychology, etc. (Note: You must attach a copy of your transcripts.) OR Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) beyond the second year (total graduate semester hours minus 36) by 18. Add the two percentages. (Note: You must attach a copy of your transcripts.) This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-09). You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas: Communications and MediaExternal AwarenessInformation ManagementOral Communication Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-09).
