You will serve as an Equipment Specialist (Cranes) in the NCCR Divison of NCC.

Duties

You will serve as the senior Navy Crane Center on-site technical expert tor SPS and long shoring weight handling equipment (WHE) policy interpretation. You will provide expert advice and authoritative conclusions on complex and significant weight handling equipment problems, and operational frequently impacting Navy weight handling equipment policy and operations. You will consult with counterparts and other experts in the field of WHE to resolve the most difficult and complex problems. You will develop, coordinates and administers special training as needed for assigned NCCR(s); ensures that all mandatory training requirements are accomplished in a timely manner. You will advise and consult with the Shipyard and Activity Commanders, Certifying Officials, and Crane Program Managers on the effectiveness of their WHE program with recommendations for improvement.

  • You will be required to successfully complete a pre-appointment physical examination.
  • You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
  • You will be required to complete training, obtain, and maintain a government credit card for travel and travel-related purchases.
  • This position may require occasional travel from normal duty station. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft.
  • You must be capable of obtaining a Thermoluminescent Dosimeter (TLD) for work in limited radiation areas.

Qualifications

For the GS-13: Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-12 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: 1) Developing, coordinating and administering special training as needed; 2) Making recommendations to improve the effectiveness of a weight handling equipment program; 3) Collecting and analyzing shipyard maintenance data for trends; 4) Conducting audits and assessments of the weight handling program For the GS-12: Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-11 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector.
