Duties

You will evaluate internal and external inspections and operational testing, which may be performed by others. You will certify existing equipment for continued use and shall recommend new installations for acceptance by the required guidelines. You will conduct on-site investigations to determine the condition of equipment, cause of inefficient operation, failure, malfunction, or accident. You will assure work priorities, schedules, resources, and detailed work plans are met and recommend changes to schedules, priorities and work sequences.

Requirements

  • This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
  • You will be required to complete training, obtain, and maintain a government credit card for travel and travel-related purchase.
  • You will be required to wear personal protective equipment such as helmets, gloves, coveralls, glasses, goggles, respirators and safety shoes continuously for the duration of the work shift.
  • Must be able to work odd hours or overtime as dictated by operations.
  • Subject to recall in case of emergency, such as fire, grounding, bomb threat, tsunami, heavy weather or other conditions and may be required to work overtime on an emergency basis.
  • Must be a 2nd class swimmer or must attain a 2nd class swimmer qualification within three months of assignment to the position.
  • Must successfully complete applicable Contracting Officer Representative training to include CLC 106 by Defense Acquisition University.
  • Must complete various Job Qualification Requirements (JQR) and Personal Qualification Standards (PQS) requirements as assigned.

Qualifications

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-9 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: 1) Plan and schedule an inspection and testing program to assure Code compliance with maintenance and repair for shore side equipment; 2) Assist with on-site investigations to determine the condition of equipment, and cause of inefficient operation, failure, malfunction, or accident; 3) Reviews all contracts and logs, prior inspection reports, repair documentation, and overhaul work packages, testing, quality assurance, and certification procedures and other contract-related recurring reports for accuracy and completeness; and 4) Ensures faulty or careless maintenance or operations are prevented, thereby preventing damages to crafts or other equipment. Education

Graduate education providing the knowledge, skills and abilities to perform the work of the position may be substituted for specialized experience as follows:

Have successfully completed a Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree in fields related to Equipment Specialist.
OR
Have successfully completed three full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to a Ph.D. or equivalent degree in fields related to Equipment Specialist.
OR

OR
Have a combination of experience and graduate education as described above that equates to one year of experience. The percentage of the required education plus the percentage of the required experience equal one hundred percent.
