About the Position: Serve as a Missile Defense Advisor for US ARMY SPACE & MSL DEF CMD (USASMDC), DEUTY CHIEF OF STAFF, G-3, OPERATIONS DIVISION, PETERSON AFB, CO.
Duties
The role of Missile Defense Advisor is to support the leadership of U.S. Army Space and Missile Defense Command (USASMDC), troubleshoot, create new solutions, provide team-building.
Give guidance and confirm accountability in all areas assigned with specific focus on space operations, global missile defense, and Army Space and Missile Defense support to U.S. Strategic Commands.
Represents the Commanding General of USASMDC in various three- and four-star senior level meetings and engagements at the direction of the commander.
Guides ASCC resourcing initiatives involving global Army missile defense forces.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- Temporary Duty (TDY) may be required up to 25% of the time.
- This position requires the incumbent be able to obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Top Secret security clearance or access for the duration of employment. A background investigation and credit check are required.
- Appointment to this position is subject to a two year probationary period for newly hired employees per the Federal Register, (85 FR 3350). While probationary the incumbent can be terminated with limited appeal rights.
- Financial Disclosure Statement OGE Form 450. This position requires pre-employment financial disclosure and annually thereafter in accordance with DoD Directive 5500-7-R.
- The duties of this position meet the criteria for compliance with Federal and Department of the Army Drug Free Workplace Programs.

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes the following: 1) developing strategic guidance to be implemented command wide; 2) analyzing and implementing short to long-range strategic plans & exercises; 3) communicating orally and in writing to convey information to senior level executives and subordinates; 4) reviews/provides recommendations on all aspects of Ground-Based Midcourse Defense (GMD) such as asset management. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service NH-03 (GS-13).
